I am a truly fan of specialty coffee, and I take sundays to go out and discover the good coffeeshops and their specialty coffees. So, I went there yesterday with a friend for a brunch. I arrived first and asked for a table for 2. I stayed on the waiting list which didn’t take long. However, when the waiter called my name, my friend didnt arrive yet, and he said to me that she needed to be there, because of the waiting list, and he didnt want to allow me to sit without her. I understood the situation, and as I knew she was arriving very soon, I suggested that I could already order while waiting her (since I know myself, and I would probably wanna try more coffees, it wasn’t a problem). So he allowed me to sit, his colleague took my order of the cold brew with the coffee of the day and the sparkling water, I even asked about their v60/aeropress, and she briefly explained to me, and suggested that later I should take a look inside to ser their many availability of specialty coffee so I could order later. 10min after my friend arrived and we both order a “crumbled scrambled bomb” each, mine was also with the melted bra cheese addtion. My friend also ordered a iced cascara. The food arrived soon, and we liked both the food and our drinks quality.
Unfortunately the amount of stars Im giving to this review is because of the service we had. While I was eating I finished my cold brew, so I went inside to check their coffees that was displayed to order another one. I called the waiter to order the v60/aeropress, and when I started talking to explain more or less what I was looking for, and say that I was opened for a suggestion, he said to me that it would take longer for my order to be ready, since they were full of orders. Understanding the situation, and as I take my sundays to really appreciate specialty coffees, I said to him that it was okay, I wouldn’t mind to wait to taste the aeropress (especially because I went there exactly to try their specialty coffees, since I saw many good recommendations about it). However, for my surprise, he said that actually he would not take my order because there was the waiting list and he will need the table.
I was very disappointed not only for not being allowed to order more, but also because both my friend and I were still eating, and we had the feeling that we needed to hush and leave the place super quickly, which definitely is not the feeling that you wanna have when you go out of home to eat brunch outside and enjoy coffees. In addition, we were both planning for maybe ordering something sweet after our brunch plates, as a “dessert” but we didn’t even feel comfortable about asking after not being allowed to order more coffee.
Well, anyways, we finished our foods, and went to paid our bill and the woman who was in the cashier asked if everything was okay and I said no, and explained the situation I just wrote here. The waiter came and asked what was happening, she said that she would tell him later, but he insist, and she briefly explained the situation to him. He replied to me saying that he was not rude with me (which I’ve never said he was speaking rudely, I just said that I wanted to order more and I was not allowed to). Anyways, the woman in the cashier apologized, we paid our bill and left.
Honestly speaking, the food and the drinks were very good, however the service is one thing that wouldn’t make me have the desire to good back. I was not asking for a favor, we were not sitting there without consuming, actually, I was asking to consume more at their place, and experience more things.
If they needed the table in a short period of time, they should have said that to me before sitting. Although it’s very strange to go for a coffeeshop, consume, and not being allowed to keep consuming. I do understand they were full, it was sunday, etc etc. However, it doesn’t justify refusing to take orders because you need the table free for the waiting list. It was stressing and frustrating, and these are not the feelings I wanted to have while eating or experiencing a...
Read moreThis place is very disappointing. They list themselves as coffee shop, but you cannot sit on a table to have your coffee and desert, even if the place is half empty.
We went there twice, to give it a chance: The first time (place was full, we queued 20min) they sat us on a table, took our order, they came back 10+ min later to tell us they can’t serve us as we didn’t order a full meal and that there had a long waiting list (we had ordered coffees and deserts). We basically cancelled our ordered and left, the waitress apologized on our way out in a sincere way, we understood and we said we will try to give another chance another time.
We came back a second time, while the place was half empty, knowing that we might not have a table, placed our orders for take away, although, one of us ordered a meal.. while we are waiting for our order, my friend asked to sit on the bar’s chair just to rest for a minute while we wait, the waiter (or manager) told her she can’t sit and that we should wait outside. We looked around there weren’t any people waiting, and again the place was half empty! It didn’t make sense, so we complained, the waiter then suggested that if we are not happy with the situation, in hot headed tone, to give us back our money, as we will not return, to add to his impulse said that we have no understanding of how to run a restaurant..
I have a few things to say: Don’t list yourself as a coffee shop if you want to apply the ‘no table for coffee orders’ — its a wrong branding If a person is asking to sit for a minute while waiting for their order and the place is not full, be flexible or « kind » about it (you never know if they are in pain) Escalating a situation rather then deflating (even when you don’t agree) is a wrong move — if this is how things are managed, you’ll drive the business to the ground, no matter how good your products are.
Give the above a...
Read moremind blowing croquettes The place is a great example of new generation breakfast / brunch culture. The menu has a lot of variety and is customizable to your choice of content. The flexibility and sophistication of ordering from the menu is impressive. And yet again, mind-blowing croquettes. What’s significant is the coffee options, I was never asked which coffee blend I’d prefer for a macchiato, it’s nice to see the respect towards the taste of coffee, which is amazing honestly. The space is quite cozy, well-thought interior elements and choice of color. Although not every table receives enough amount of daylight which I think is due to the use of space. There are many people studying right next to the window, which results in a lot of chairs being left empty, what I think could be done is if the space was managed in a way that separates the study from Milanese brunch. The service… was very sympathetic, maybe w bit too much from time to time. Language is no problem, both in Italian and English they’re ready to communicate and explain you the content. They really know the products well, the coffee as well perfectly. Although, from the times I’ve been there I’ve observed that sometimes the service people are too tired to get or understand my order, and they claim they were tired. This isn’t a problem for me, but the service gets a bit flaky sometimes, at least everything else satisfactory that it doesn’t come across...
