Enjoyed a delicious meal at Trattoria Bolognese da Mauro on the final evening of our 2-week trip to Italy. We were really hoping to find somewhere delicious and less touristy for our final meal, and our dinner, which was very reasonably priced, couldn’t have been better.
The pastas, in particular, were fantastic. They came out quickly, and it was clear they were freshly made. I would highly recommend the gramigna, as well as the strozzapreti, which were both fantastic (and very generous portions). If we were staying here another night, I’d be tempted to come back and order these again.
To top things off, the staff are also very friendly and attentive. It was seemingly only two waiters for a restaurant of well over 40-50 occupants, including one very large group of over 25 students, but we never had any issues with the service. Everyone was very kind and accommodating.
One thing to note: would highly recommend a reservation (we messaged via WhatsApp). We saw several groups walk in who weren’t able to find a table.
This is a great place for a delicious and reasonably-priced dinner -...
Read moreThis was hands down the best restaurant we visited during our city break in Milan! We wanted a family-owned spot with authentic, handmade pasta, away from the tourist-heavy center where you might find good food but not that true Italian feel. This place was a hidden gem—everything from the atmosphere to the portions was incredible. The food was delicious, and the servings were huge! We couldn’t finish it all, but it was too good to leave behind, so we asked for a box to take it with us.
When we first arrived, there were only a few people, which surprised us. But within 20 minutes, the place was packed! If you want to guarantee a seat, it’s best to make a reservation in advance, which is easy to do with a quick WhatsApp message. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home.
The restaurant is conveniently located near a metro station, just a 5-7 minute walk. It gave us a lovely glimpse into the quieter, more authentic side of Milan. We absolutely loved our...
Read moreI am now two for two in Milano, having had lunch today at da Mauro. I had the Antipasto Rustico as my appetizer. It is not for the faint of heart as there were several items on it I could not describe, but it was delicious and one should be adventurous when traveling. I had the Ravioli Cingiale as my first plate. For those of us from the south, brother pig is a favorite and this dish did not disappoint. I devoured the pasta at 1 pm. Chef told me he had only made it at 11 am this morning. I also had 1/2 liter of the house sparkling red, a lovely Barbera, which was delightful and paired beautifully with everything I consumed. This is a family place and filled to capacity shortly after my arrival at 12:15 pm. It was heartwarming to see friends and family together, laughing and talking, sharing the big meal of the week. I HEARTILY RECOMMEND THIS...
