Disappointing Dining at Van Bol & Feste
I had high hopes for Van Bol & Feste, with its dual offering of a restaurant and bakery, but unfortunately the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
Let's start with the positives - the bakery side of the establishment was quite impressive. The pastries were truly delectable, and the gelato was top-notch. However, that's about where the praise ends.
The restaurant itself serves up food that is decidedly mediocre. Nothing was outright bad, per se, but nothing really stood out or impressed either. It was a fairly lackluster meal overall.
But the real issue came with the service, particularly in the bakery area. The staff there were shockingly rude, unhelpful and downright unfriendly. They had zero patience for our questions and seemed completely unwilling to provide any sort of friendly customer service. This was a stark contrast to the warm and welcoming service we've come to expect from restaurants in Milan.
And the atmosphere left much to be desired as well. The tables and seats were not properly cleaned, with food scraps still present. And the less said about the state of the restrooms, the better - the floor was wet and the toilet area was just plain smelly.
All in all, Van Bol & Feste is a disappointment. While the bakery items may be worth a try, the restaurant portion is a letdown, and the overall service and cleanliness issues make it hard to recommend this place to anyone seeking an enjoyable dining experience. There are so many better options for Italian cuisine in Milan that I'd suggest...
Read moreI bought a tray of pastries. The lady in the till had me pay and then told me to ask my products at the bar. The lady in the bar went to the lady in the till and told her to put my products together. Then the lady in the till went to get a young guy to put my products together. IS THIS JOB SO MUCH BELOW THEIR DIGNITY?? They took ages to find the box to takeaway then ages to put the products in the tray. They seemed very confused and all the while there were workers walking around me cleaning here and there. Then I saw them put two small pastry items of which I had ordered one large, so I asked them to correct the mistake, after which they told me that unfortunately the lady at the till had added two small pastry items my mistake. They gave me two option, accept two small or pay the difference. I know this sounds reasonable but it made my blood boil after all I had witnessed. When businesses make mistakes like these it is not uncommon that they just make the customer happy and take a 1€ hit. NO, I did not have cash and did not want to pay this small amount by card, so I left with something I did not order. This business is badly organized and employees are...
Read moreThe only horrible place in Milano! The service was unprofessional, rude and with “amazing” attitude. The thing is, that the receipt didn’t reflect the real amount of money. For example, I ordered “BABA” desert which on a display costs 3€, but in the receipt they had 8€. Which was explained as a service fee. (There was no sign, no warning about that) Waitresses were ordering us where to sit, where not to stand. With what we had to agree after all. The food was average, but they wanted a special fee for the service. Which is ridiculous, because they don’t even speak a little of English, they are not nice, extremely rude! When she FINALLY brought our food, she put it on the next table. What is that about?! Alzheimer’s?? After all WE WON and we didn’t have to pay our ridiculous bill. My advice is DO NOT GO THERE. And if you got caught in their little trap - FIGTH FOR YOUR MONEY! The manager will make...
