Ristorante Pizzeria Ghirlandina — Restaurant in Modena

So far our time in modena has been a trial by fire with things costing more than expected and "5 star" restaurants in the town centre being disappointing, so we walked into Ghirlandina with low expectations. At first glance the restaurant looked really up market and much to our relief the waiter spoke really good English. He was super polite, helpful and good to chat to. The menu was very well stocked at a great price point and even in Italian was easy to read. The ambiance was nice with a bit of music in the background.

We had caprese and two pizzas to share. The waiter suggested a bottle of wine which went really well with the meal. We had considered going for dessert elsewhere but the service was so good we didn't want to leave and stayed for dessert and the waiter's espresso martini.

Everything was amazing and wish we found it sooner! The price was more than reasonable. I wish I had learnt the waiters name but forgot to ask.

The only thing I would change is the menu. There is lots of choice but too much personally. Started to get a bit word blind from all the options.

Cena con amici la sera di sabato 19 maggio in occasione della notte bianca. Siamo stati fortunati ad avere trovato posto alle 21,30 circa. Abbiamo ordinato 4 pizze. Discrete anche se molto cotte se non troppo. Da bere due coca cola in bottigliette di vetro , acqua naturale e due birre. Solo dopo averle bevute e finite, abbiamo notato che le due coche erano purtroppo scadute. Una a febbraio di quest’anno e l’altra l’autunno dello scorso anno. Lo abbiamo fatto presente alla cameriera (non la stessa che ci aveva servito), e lei ha fatto una faccia di disapprovazione e di scuse. Io, le ho detto di farci fare uno sconto se non di non farcele pagare dato che erano scadute. Lo abbiamo precisato e fatto presente anche nel lor interesse comunque. La cameriera mi ha risposto con un “NO” secco e che avrebbe portato del limoncello e ce lo avrebbe offerto. Io sinceramente pensavo che scherzasse con quel “no” di disgusto e disapprovazione ma quando abbiamo chiesto il conto finale al tavolo, controllando, abbiamo notato che le due coche scadute ce le hanno messe nel conto mentre il limoncello no. Sinceramente , penso avrebbero fatto più bella figura non farci pagare le bibite scadute, poi se per salvarsi la faccia , ci avessero anche voluto offrire il limoncello, “tanto di cappello”. Credo da questo misfatto, il locale non se ne sia uscito tanto bene e non abbiano fatto una gran bella figura. Peccato. Si potrebbe fare bella figura con altro e non con una bottiglietta di limoncello per aggiustare il misfatto. Basta questo per non...

La prima volta che ho visitato questa pizzeria ho ricevuto un servizio eccellente in tempi accettabili. La pizza è ottima, ed il personale è stato gentile e preciso. Per tali ragioni, ho deciso di tornarci. Stavolta il servizio è stato lento, ed il personale davvero scortese, in modo particolare l'uomo che ho dedotto essere il proprietario, che si è arrabbiato quando abbiamo richiesto i conti separati in quanto aveva già iniziato a fare il calcolo in cassa (senza chiederci nulla). Che dire, come voto finale assegno sole 3 stelle a questo ristorante (rispetto alle 5 che avevo inizialmente assegnato). 5 stelle alla pizza, 1...
