Tipiko Modica — Restaurant in Modica

Tonight we decided to give this place a try, based on its great location and positive reviews. ​The service was attentive and friendly. We started with a couple of salads, which were quite good, and it was a nice touch that they offered a selection of draft beers. At this point, we were feeling very optimistic about the night ahead. ​Unfortunately, the main course did not live up to our expectations. The braciole di pollo was surprisingly plain and tasteless, and the veal steak was overcooked and very tough, unchewable and lacked any flavor. To add to the disappointment, the bread served with our meal was stale and dense, feeling as heavy as a brick. My husband couldn't eat much of his veal steak because of these issues. ​When the waiter saw the unfinished dish and asked about it, we explained that it just wasn't good. We fully expected to pay for it, but the waiter insisted that they could not and would not charge us for the veal steak. This was a genuinely surprising and very welcome gesture. ​The service recovery was outstanding and the main reason we're giving this restaurant three stars. What a great first experience. We were in the mood for some comfort food and boy did we find it. The ravioli with butter and sage was not on the perfect portion size, but the flavor was simply amazing. The pasta al brood con paddunedda was so tasty and mysterious at the same time. The pork added a unique flavor that you couldn't get enough of as we devoured it. Our server had a great personality and was attentive when needed.
