We chose Ristorante Il Coccorone for our weekly Umbrian lunch visit. We were very pleased with the experience and especially the food. The coperto is correct (3 Euro per person) with an assortment of breads that were very tasty. I had the Pappardelle al Sagrantino, which was very hearty. My wife had the Bistecca which was made to perfection. With the assortment of salts along with the pepper it was something even I could eat and want more of (I'm not one to eat beef). Contorno included patate brace and cicoria. The dessert was a crostata with figs that was arguably the best crostata I've ever had. It was made in house and just melted in your mouth. The half liter caraffe of wine was also appropriately priced (6 Euro) and was a very good red wine paired with both dishes. Overall, I would not only recommend dining here to anyone but would also come back to try other dishes. Lastly, the staff was very professional, friendly,...

While unfortunately viewing the TV (?!)-- a poor substitute for music-- we enjoyed the Lumache, and I loved the Cortella... but after that, with a strong bottle of Sagrantino, our Secondi arrived...Coniglio (Rabbit) Cacciatore, ie. in a broken sauce sans vegetable or garnish, very overcooked and dry... And the traditional Roasted Pigeon was even drier, even the darker meat like dust; bones charred, without sauce, salt or seasoning of any kind! Even the side of Grilled Porcini was overblackened, crunchy and tasteless. Why?? The bistecca is indeed the primary recommendation-- but maybe stop obliterating the...

Located just below the center of the main plaza, Il Coccorone lives up to it's billing as a great Florentine steakhouse with homemade pasta. 2" thick cuts of the finest steaks prepared over an open flame, get yours served in the local style; with Italian salt and olive oil drizzled on top--a taste sensation so pleasurable you will try to repeat at home for your friends. The wine list is extensive but when you simply order a bottle of the house wine, you will be served a local Montefalco red wine that promises to compliment...

Lovely lunch in the charming town of Montefalco. Focaccia and olive bread in basket were amazing AND they were served with local NUOVA olive oil 2024. Valta and Manuel provided excellent service. We had hand rolled pasta with beef ragu, sliced rare beef with arugula and balsamic glaze - perfetto! And superb rabbit cacciatore. And a lovely bottle of Montefalco Reserve. They did forget to serve the roasted peppers I ordered but that’s ok. The portions were very generous. I would definitely return. Highly recommended
