Lovely experience @ Re Tartu in Montefalco, Umbria. An absolute treat. Recommended by a friend (Massimo) and fellow vinophile in Spoleto for a lovely dinner location and food / service. It was just perfect. We were a party of 6 adults and we thoroughly enjoyed yourselves. Enjoyed a magnum bottle of Montefalco Sagrantino (100% Sagrantino grape) and also some Montefalco Sagrantino Passito. The special of the night was "black Umbrian tartufo". Excellent evening and the food and service were just fantastic. Highly recommended. We spent ~€67 / person (including wine and dessert).

Durante il nostro viaggio a Montefalco, grazie alle recensioni più che positive, abbiamo deciso di provare anche noi questo ristorante. Appena arrivati siamo stati accolti dal titolare che è stato subito molto simpatico ed amichevole. Il locale è molto accogliente e romantico. Noi ci siamo stati in estate e vi erano allestiti i tavoli all'esterno che creavano un'atmosfera molto piacevole. Le cameriere sono molto gentili, professionali e preparate (cosa non affatto scontata). Riguardo alla cena, la scelta è ricaduta su un antipasto (la parmigiana, decisamente buona) e due secondi (una tagliata di manzo al tartufo ed un filetto di maiale al sagrantino) che sono stati davvero buonissimi, eccellenti direi. Non abbiamo potuto non assaggiare anche il dolce che non ci ha assolutamente deluso, anzi. Il tiramisù Re Tartù e la crema all'olio e rosmarino sono decisamente consigliati. Se passate a Montefalco, Re Tartù è un'ottima scelta. Locale consigliato senza ombra di dubbio!

Qui si mangia tartufo. Non salsa di tartufo, salsa al tartufo o salsa all'odore di tartufo, ma tartufo vero. Visto il periodo a noi è stato servito tartufo estivo. Abbiamo preso prosciutto tagliato al coltello con bruschette al tartufo e strangozzi al tartufo ed erano entrambi deliziosi. Per concludere brownie con coulisse (non son sicura si scriva così ma concettualmente ci siamo 😂) di lampone. Ho apprezzato tutto, dal menù vario (lista dei vini esemplare dicono gli amici che bevo), alle porzioni proporzionate, all'ambiente. Il servizio è stato leggermente più lento di quanto previsto (soprattutto tra antipasti e primi), ma nulla che faccia venir voglia di mangiare anche il tavolo nell'attesa, motivo per cui do comunque 5 stelle. Se andate a Montefalco (e dovreste, è un borghetto proprio carino!) e il tartufo vi piace io una sosta ve la consiglio spassionatamente.

The restaurant is somewhat hidden, tucked in between two other buildings, it's small but inviting. Service is very attentive and timely. You are greeted with house breads and amazing olive oil (that they pour in very little drip, it's an expensive one so that is why).I had the beef tartar with Foie Gras for starter, and then an amazing tagliatelle with Truffles. Loved our meal and experience at this restaurant. Spent 3 days in Umbria and this was our favorite meal. The filet with truffles was the highlight. Great priced wine. We got a montefalco sagrantino 2006 and they decanted it for us. Thought that was a nice touch since a bottle at that age needs some aeration to reach its full potential.
