Bar Nilo — Restaurant in Naples

Early in the morning we went to the coffee shop to buy an espresso... When I saw what was in the cafe, I was really amazed, I asked the waiter if it was really a lock of Maradona's hair, he told me that the owner of the cafe was friends with Maradona...

After that there was a conversation with the owner of the cafe, a kind man, we had an interesting conversation related to his acquaintance with Maradona, which is obviously true when you see that he has a very friendly joint picture with Maradona...

After that, he told me that I could take a look, take a picture as a souvenir if I wanted to...

Of course, I knew all about it, but I performed such etiquette, just looking at the reviews when I realized that people without manners rush inside to take pictures, so the owner's reaction is normal...

It's all about manners, it's all about behavior, don't be classic tourists, the owner is a great person when you behave normally...

In Bar Nilo at Spaccanapoli you can find the Capello miracoloso di Diego Armando Maradona. Bruno Alcidi retreived the 'miraculous hair' of Maradona from the airplane seat on which the soccer legend was seated when he accidently was on the same flight as the squadra from Napoli, returning home after a 3-0 defeat by AC Milan in 1990. He admitted keeping the originals at home, so the hair kept in the sacred Capello are of course 'copies'. Reportedly, taking a picture of the capello in Bar Nilo without ordering a (very cheap but excellent!) caffé could result in an instantly exploding...

As a solo traveler and triathlete, I discovered this cool, cozy place at the heart of the market. The service is really nice, and their coffee is delicious. I’m afraid I can’t share insights about the food, as I didn’t eat there, but rather in the Pizzeria Sorbillo Piccolina across the street. I think it is a beautiful spot to read a book, wake up in the morning, or simply enjoy a conversation with someone - a friend or a stranger.
