Gelateria Soave 1950 — Restaurant in Naples

Nothing wrong with the ice-cream, but the old lady at the ice-cream counter hustled me coz I'm a tourist. First off, at most ice-cream parlors in Naples it costs less to order a cup than ordering ice cream in a waffle. Not here.

Secondly, I ordered three flavors - strawberry, coffee and chocolate. None of the scoops I got filled the cup enough. The chocolate and coffee flavors came first and were decent in size but the final scoop - strawberry - was sooo small! It paled in comparison to the other two scoops and I finished it in two bites.

Sadly nobody at the store knows English and since I don't know Italian, I couldnt explain to the old lady that shelved out the scoops that she had given me too little strawberry ice-cream. I tried to, but she didnt get it. Shambolic and a scam.

Sure, the ice cream tasted nice (not as good as Casa Infante´s) but the scam artist style from the old lady at the counter left a sour taste...

Soave è una storica Cremeria/Gelateria 🧀🍧🍨🥩🍗🍰🍦🥧 ubicata a Via Scarlatti, una delle strade più belle ed eleganti del Quartiere Vomero a Napoli. Ho avuto il piacere di mangiare un buonissimo gelato 🍦 a frutta 🍓🍋🍑, e ne ho potuto apprezzare la qualità (caratteristica di un prodotto eseguito in maniera artigianale come tanti anni fa) ed il piacevole gusto: molto spesso in altri locali si trovano miriadi di gusti che purtroppo hanno tutti lo stesso sapore. Il gelato di Soave, invece, ha un sapore ben definito, caratterizzato da una grande personalità: la fragola ed il limone sono buonissimi, e mi ha piacevolmente sorpreso il gusto yogurt ad albicocca, davvero molto saporito. Anche la cialda del cono 🍦 è fresca e fragrante. Il locale, benché un po' piccolo e datato, è curato ed accogliente, così come il personale, che è gentile e disponibile con la clientela, mettendola a proprio agio ed offrendo ottimi consigli in merito ai prodotti. La Gelateria Soave si trova a Via Scarlatti, una strada esclusivamente a traffico pedonale: consiglio quindi di raggiungerla con i mezzi pubblici (la fermata 🚏"Piazza Vanvitelli" della Metro 🚉 Ⓜ linea 1 è a pochi passi) o magari con l'ottimo servizio taxi 🚖 di Napoli. Per chi non può fare a meno dell'auto 🚘 ci sono molti garage custoditi 🅿 in zona, ma con tariffe orarie non sempre favorevoli. It’s handily the best gelato in Naples. (The ever-popular Mennella is a distant second.) And, dare I say, one of the best in all of Italy.
