I Buongustai — Restaurant in Naples

Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we had during our trip to Italy.

To start, there was no hand soap available in the restroom.

We ordered the bruschetta, carbonara, and a pizza with prosciutto, tomatoes, and arugula. Sadly, all three dishes were below expectations. The bruschetta was made with dried herbs and tomatoes that tasted old, and it was served with a small salad that appeared to come from a pre-packaged mix (which I noticed in the kitchen on the way to the restroom). The carbonara was clumpy, and the pancetta was burnt and too crispy. The pizza was probably the best of the three, but even that was just average. Overall, the ingredients didn’t taste fresh and everything was overly salty.

To add to the frustration, when we went to pay, the cashier was on the phone the entire time and told us we couldn’t use a credit card—even though there appeared to be a card reader at the counter.

I don’t usually rely on one-star reviews when choosing a place to eat, and I had hoped to give this restaurant a fair chance. Unfortunately, my experience was very underwhelming. If you’re traveling and looking to make the most of your meals, I would recommend exploring...

I must say about my experience in Buongustai Restaurant in Napoli that it stands out as a delightful dining destination, offering a refreshing experience in contrast to the often overcrowded and overrated establishments in the city. One of its unique aspects is the absence of necessary pre-reservation requirements (you still have the option to reserve), allowing diners to easily find a table without the stress of securing a spot in advance.

Now, let's talk about the culinary highlights. The Quattro Formagi pizza at Buongustai is truly exceptional and ranks among the best pizzas I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. The harmonious combination of cheeses creates a symphony of flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. Each bite is a revelation, leaving you craving more of its mouthwatering goodness. If you visit Buongustai, I highly recommend indulging in this culinary masterpiece. On the other hand, while the Margherita pizza is average-rated, it doesn't reach the same level of excellence as its cheese-laden...

We only had time for one pizza place in Naples so I spent hours researching the myriad of options. The well known places all require an hour or two in line during peak times. I am sure their pizzas are good but…I selected I Buongustai because for many months they have had only 5 star reviews on Google. For us they provided another 5 star performance. Perfect pizza. Very friendly and accommodating service. Not busy when we arrived at 1 PM but then the locals began to arrive. Several groups arrived and filled the place up. From then on there was a steady stream of food arriving at the tables from the kitchen. After our 5 star dining experience, a couple of blocks away we passed by one of those “well known” pizza places and saw a long line-up of people waiting in an hour’s long queue.
