Pescheria Azzurra — Restaurant in Naples

To start with i went in August , you have to prepare your self for massive waiting 1 hour , and horrible time if you don’t speak Italian .

My experience was horrible , my advice don’t go there except if you are Italian , speak Italian or at least with an Italian friend

I arrived at 21.10 , had a table 22.35 , was ready with the order and everyone is avoiding me because I don’t speak Italian although I did my search and was ready to order from the Italian menu , from start to finish definitely way more than 2 hours

I ordered 2 plates and asked for them to be served together : Mixed fried fish and Spaghetti Scoglio, the first plate arrived after 10 minutes, I waited another 5 and asked for the second she told me finish this one and the pasta would take longer so I finished my first plate the fried fish , it was below average

Then kept waiting for the second plate , asked the waiters and again they are ignoring me because they don’t speak English, and the only waitress who did only have 10 more minutes

30 minutes passed after I finished the first dish and I started to tell her how annoyed I am at the delays and that I am going to write a bad a review her boss/ maybe the owner he is a very nice man tried to ask me what’s wrong but in Italian , I tried to explain the delay and he called the waitress and she told him , he told me he would sort it and 5 minutes later , my food came

Spaghetti with Clams , Mussels and 1 King prawn , he then asked me how was it and it was quite nice but I needed to add some cheese on top

After I finished the owner offered me a drink but I apologised as I don’t drink and said could have coffee instead

Unfortunately after walking few steps I ended up vomiting everything, not knowing what went wrong was it the cheese, the coffee , the pasta or...

For my first dinner in Napoli, I was tempted by Pescheria Azzurra's premise of high quality seafood in a rustic, energetic setting. Upon arrival at 10pm the restaurant was packed, and after a short wait, we were ushered to a table.

We ordered a variety of dishes from the menu, especially excited for the fried seafood and a mussel and pecorino pasta dish. First to arrive were small bites consisting of fried zucchini and eggplants in a tomato based sauce. I found both dishes tasty, especially the latter, which benefited from the high quality of tomatoes. Next to arrive in succession was an octopus in a tomato and basil sauce and the platter of fried seafood. Both dishes were rather disappointing, the octopus tough and overly acidic and the fried seafood boring after the first few bites.

The last dish placed on the table, and the definite highlight of the meal was a a simple but incredible dish of spaghetti and mussels. Coated in a mixture of olive oil, pecorino and a seafood flavour from the mussels, each bite was rich and delicious and only accentuated by the odd parsley leaf and mussel. In contention with another dish I had sampled in Sorrento a few days prior, the spaghetti was one of the best I've ever had.

Overall, while each element at Pescheria Azzurra didn't wow, it was hard not to leave feeling more than satisfied by the quality of the pasta we had sampled and the convivial,...

I'm really surprised by so many good reviews... I was led here by some YouTube good reviews and Google maps reviews. Unfortunately, I can confirm what many 1 star reviews mention - service not the nicest but let's forget that one - a paper cup of fried seafood has the bottom pushed in quite high to make it smaller, also that the bottom is stuffed with a few dough balls which are far from great anyway. Ultimately the portion only looks really big but it's not. Fried seafood is absolutely nothing special, I didn't even get a lemon slice with it... They didn't want to serve anything else than that even though the fish monger next to them had plenty of seafood and it was 5pm, not midnight... Speaking of fishmongers, I honestly would be really scared to buy anything from them as all seafood and fishes were sitting in water with a little or no ice whatsoever. Plenty of them were sticking out of the water and flies were strolling on them all the time... No thank you 🤮 I never thought I would be writing such a bad review here but we were let down terribly and would never go back there so I can't give them even 2 stars with so many bad points...
