The only reason we chose this place was that they had pasta fagioli on the menu (unusual in this pizza/fish oriented foodie wasteland that is Naples). When we ordered it … no … that don’t have it. So we got a veal scaloppine al vino (couldn’t taste any vino just a bland flour and butter sauce - terrible) and a margherita pizza which was no better or worse than any other pizza in Naples. My wife ordered a glass of Prosecco and they poured her the bottom of a bottle ( only a half glass left) of some in-drinkable sweet white wine. She didn’t like it of course so they took it and set it on a counter. Then they poured a different wine into her glass to fill it up and brought it to another customer. She had already tasted it! Gross. What if she had a cold or something worse? I had a glass of the weakest Aglianico I have ever had. Probably super cheap. The place is uncomfortably hot. What a...
Read moreFood is okay but prices are not transparent. Had a swordfish and polipetti alla Luciana - both in the menu for 12€. In the bill however, the swordfish was 15€ and the polipetti 14€. After asking why the price was different, the waiter got nervous and was rudely saying that fresh fish had different prices..
okay so even when ordering and pointing with the finger to the 12€ swordfish, i can accept a price difference for fresh vs frozen if it really was fresh which I honestly doubt. In any case there was no real explanation to the change of price for the polipetti. This also the nervous waiter had to admit and "discounted" 2 Euros from the bill with the words "what are 2€ to me". From his behavior, I had the feeling the whole was not a mistake but rather a tactic and he felt annoyed that we noticed it.
So overall average/okay food experience with a negative impression...
Read moreWe attended all kinds of posh restaurants during our trip to Milan and Naples, but this restaurant had by far the tastiest most satisfying Italian cuisine during our trip. The wonderful owner Enzo (or Enzuce as he insisted we call him) was extremely kind and friendly to us, and treated us like long-time regulars despite our abysmal command of the Italian language! REAL pizzas (the best base and best tomato sauce!), and pastas, and meats to die for. No wonder they had a long queue of Italian friends, families, and couples on a Monday night! (Luckily we had reserved a table on both occasions due to a recommendation by our hotel). Don’t think about it...
