Signora Bettola - Napoli (Medina) — Restaurant in Naples

Edit: the restaurant replied saying my review is fake. It's not, I literally wrote the review whilst sitting at the table. They just have no understanding of how their staff run their restaurant. They could contact me to make amends but they chose to call it fake and move on with their day because they do not care about their customers.

This may be a one off but it's worth knowing their staff is disorganized and unbothered about doing their job right. We waited over ONE HOUR to get a table due to staff incompetence. The server said 30 mins and wrote our names down but after we came back we had to wait for another 30+ mins and then two people were rushed off their table with the food in their mouth so we could sit. In that whole hour no-one told us that half of the menu was no longer available. Instead they let us sit at the table for 10 more minutes before telling us when we were about to order. The experience was horrible and staff didn't seem to care. This was on a Monday, not even a rush day. I could see plenty of tables unattended, people waiting to order or with their dirty dishes waiting to be cleaned for 15-20mins is normal. The food that was left was average at best, no better than other places in Naples....

The food was perfectly fine, but not better than average. What made it a bad experience was that we were rushed from start to finish (as were other tables - the table across from us that sat down a minute after us were already finishing their desert as we were still finishing mains). While extracting maximum profits is generally a priority of any business, this one makes no attempt to hide it or combine it with a pleasant experience for the customer. All courses were pushed out at the same time apart from the one that wouldn’t physically fit on our table (which was the primi that for some reason came after the secondi), and a side dish that was forgotten about. The service manager (I presume) was hovering awkwardly around the tables which, on the one hand I suppose was making sure service was prompt (a good thing), but in practice just made the experience more uncomfortable by reenforcing the impression that they wanted to turn our table over as fast as humanly possible (a bad thing). To be sure, our server was nice enough, and the food was ok, but the whole rushed vibe made what would have been a solid 7/10 a...

The place was full, had some good reviews so thought we’d give it a go. We arrive and get sat. 5 minutes go by with nothing. The table next to us get sat, water brought to them straight away. Don’t think much of it. Ten minutes pass and we get asked if we want water. Fifteen minutes minutes go by and the people next to us have ordered already, another group have come in since and have already ordered, we’ve decided what we want to eat but still nothing, so we ask to order- ‘sure no problem.’ Then, once again, nothing. Ten more minutes and we ask again- ‘one moment’ by this point the people next to us are EATING, and we haven’t even ordered yet. Another five minutes pass (35 minutes since we sat) and we get up and leave. I don’t know it was because we weren’t Italian (even though there were other native English speakers in the restaurant) but it was truly the worst dining experience we’ve had in our travels around Europe.
