a well-deserved 4-4.5 points very local eatery. While transitioning from Catacombe di San Gennaro to Catacombe di San Gaudioso, we only had an hour for lunch and picked a very local eatery. With underwear hanging and drying inside the restaurant, you could not make it much more local. We really liked the dishes we were served, especially the quantities. Yet, the pasta and Gnocchis had been pre-cooked and sitting behind a glass in the entrance. A tasty, very warm sauce was added back before serving and it was great, but you could see it was not as fresh as in other trattorie (yet, we really liked it). On the contrary, the schnitzel with fries was freshly made and were quickly devoured. On the plus and minus: we loved the croquettes and fried food we were served... but never ordered (but that we paid, naturally). Seems to be a local custom to push some foods onto customers (this is by no means the first time it occured while in Napoli). Also, the limoncello and coffee were delicious. Also, we found the entrance fee (copperti) per person - which is customary in Italy - to be on the higher side for a restaurant of that caliber. 2 EUR instead of 1-1.5 EUR is too high for such restaurant in our opinion. In any case, the staff was kind, fun and helpful, and we enjoyed our lunch there, albeit with a few surprises. We recommend you give it a try, enjoy, and be...
Read moreA simple eatery that is probably visited more by locals. All the more genuine experience! We communicated with the staff with the help of Google Translate. The food was delicious and the staff very helpful. Affordable prices (€50 for 4 people, including 3 large glasses of wine.) The locals at the next table offered us to taste the food from their tray. A very unique experience for us. After lunch we wanted to visit the zoo and the host offered to take us there himself. Very kind of him! A very memorable experience...
Read moreSeems overpriced why I think we got turist prices. I hate that. We spent 30 euro in total two people. We had two times “4 small ready-made dishes” at 12 euro each. In itself a somewhat small meal. I do not understand that when you can get a made-to-order pizza for 9 euros at a nice restaurant at a nicer location. We paid 2 euro service fee per person. Normal at restaurants but I think too much for this type of place. I highly doubt that the locals were paying any service fee at all let alone the steep 12...
