I really wasn't sure what to expect when it came to a Fried Pizza, but I thought it was pretty decent This ended up being pretty similar to a Calzone, but the batter on the edges turned into a breading that closely resembled the Indian poori
I thought the breading was pretty solid. There was no real crunch or crispiness to it, like you would expect with American fried chicken, but for the most part it was stretchy and tore apart decently well. The inside was also not bad - mostly filled with cheese.
For the price, it was a pretty large portion. Only being 5 euros and being more than enough for one person is pretty impressive I will say that the napkin given makes eating this pretty impractical and difficult. This is not easy to eat as a takeout food. Also, I asked for a vegetarian pizza, and they gave me one with meat. Lucky that I don't mind this too much or else it would've been a major issue
Overall, a pretty novel and interesting item, but not something I would come...
Read moreThe pizza fritta didn't live up to our expectations unfortunately. We got the classic Margherita pizza fritta. Although it was nice to see them fry them in front of us, the taste was underwhelming. Wet and runny on the inside while having a taste of smoke (possibly from a smoked cheese or old fryer oil) and the sauce not tasting like a fresh tomato sauce. Within 3 mins of being made, the dough became soggy and was chewy.
Service could also be improved. The woman working at cash seemed like me ordering was a bother. The men working on preparing the fried pizzas also looked disinterested in the questions we asked them.
The floors on the inside were full of water, seemingly from a burst pipe. Luckily the street it is on is lively and there were a couple tables to sit at outside.
Would I try this place...
Read moreWe visited Zia Esterina Sorbillo Pizza Fritta and ended up trying the Salame and Prosciutto fried pizzas. At first, I thought I had ordered a regular pizza, but it turns out this spot only serves Margherita and Marinara pizzas in the traditional style—the rest are their specialty fried pizzas. So, a tip: double-check your order if you’re expecting a classic pizza!
That said, the fried pizza was a pleasant surprise. It reminded me of a langos in texture—crisp on the outside, soft inside, and folded over with the filling sealed in. The salami and prosciutto fillings were flavorful and rich, and the portion was very satisfying.
Overall, it’s a unique experience and worth trying if you’re open to something different from the usual Neapolitan pizza. Tasty, filling, and memorable, but make sure you know what...
