Beautiful family owned and operated Cantina a few steps down from street level. Wonderful cheese and sausage board, accompanied by bread, but the lasagna, oh my goodness. I'm not big on wine, but the local wine we were served from the family vineyard was fantastic, good enough to gift a bottle to our driver. Arranged and booked by Mary Roma, this was the perfect lunch to take midday between visiting Civita di Bagnoregio and exploring the Duomo and the streets of Orvieto. Such a treasure! Owned by mother and son, Alessandro is always ready with a warm welcome and a kind word. And I’m grateful he is fluent in English. His mother, Maria Grazia, has a gift in the kitchen. Whatever she’s cooking, I’m having. I’ve been going here for a couple of years and have never been disappointed. Esternamente, sembra un comune locale dove fare una sosta per dissetarsi durante la visita della città ( è ubicato nell'angolo sinistro della Piazza rispetto alla Meravigliosa facciata del Duomo di Orvieto...), con un ampio plateatico esterno, dove è davvero piacevole accomodarsi per godere in primis della Bellezza del Duomo e della Piazza, e poi anche dell'allegra varietà del via vai dei turisti ( speriamo che questi ultimi riprendano numerosi a visitare i Gioielli della Nostra Penisola come questo..)... l'interno invece è molto più ristretto, ricavato in uno stabile Antico, che però ha un Piccolo Grande Tesoro nascosto nelle sue viscere....il Proprietario ( o la cordialissimo madre..) vi inviteranno sicuramente a visitare l'antica cantina, risalente addirittura al 1200, scavata in profondità nel tufo, davvero SPETTACOLARE !!!...si scendono 2 ripide rampe di scale, anch'esse scavate nel tufo, abbastanza larghe per il passaggio del Busto di una persona, ma fate attenzione a come mettete i piedi ( scalini invece molto stretti ;o);-p )....poi, cominciano a susseguirsi vecchissime botti di rovere e una serie interminabile di nicchie laterali dove riposano, rigorosamente orizzontali, una Innumerevole quantità di bottiglie di vino, coperte pure da strati e strati di tetre ma suggestive ragnatele....locale INCREDIBILE e quasi certamente UNICO, MOLTE GRAZIE alla Cortesia dei...
