A Hidden Gem in Orvieto – Absolutely Phenomenal We had dinner at Trattoria del Moro Aronne in Orvieto, and it was one of the most memorable meals of our trip. Important tip: Make reservations. This is a small, cozy restaurant, and we watched them turn away multiple walk-ins throughout the evening. The Wine: Don't overlook the house red – it's excellent and the perfect complement to their dishes. And limoncello at the end of the meal was fantastic! What We Ordered: Eggplant Parmesan (appetizer) – Quite possibly the best I've ever had. Perfectly executed. Bird's Nest Vegetarian Lasagne with Pecorino and Honey – This was Creamy, subtly sweet, and so light it practically melted in my mouth. The combination of savory pecorino with a touch of honey was absolutely divine and surprisingly refreshing. Tagliatelle with Wild Boar Sauce – Pure, rich deliciousness. No tomato in this sauce – just deep, concentrated flavor that lets the wild boar shine through. Steak with Gorgonzola and Chocolate – My husband's choice, and he loved it. Who would have thought it paired so well! It was delicious! Dessert: We ordered both the tiramisu and the "chocolate cake." Get the chocolate cake. It's not actually a cake – it's a warm, molten chocolate mound surrounded by cream. Heavenly. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, and the service was wonderful. This place delivers an exceptional dining experience without any pretension....
Read morethe pigeon was well cooked and so was the fish. food's good but nothing too remarkable. affordable tho!
love the fact they listed EVERY single allergen at the back of the menu with footnotes dictating which ones they contain beside every dish.
was expecting cruddy service after reading some 1-star reviews down this place. as a singaporean chinese, i was initially dissuaded to come to this place after reports of "racial discrimination", but the moment i entered the place i encountered NONE of this, very friendly to me in fact! some of yall really wna lie out here saying this place is "racist". im pretty sure yall are just sensitive abt the language barrier (which isnt that big of an issue. some duolingo lessons are good enough to get by. all you have to ask the people here is "aperto?" "grazie mille" "tavolo per due". please, when you visit a country the very least you can do is try to learn some basic language, or get a translation app.)
in summary: service was downright amazing and the place was nice to eat in. if you are looking to try pigeon meat, i highly recommend this place, but it may not be to your taste (as applicable to...
Read moreThere are many things we liked about this restaurant, but for me, the best part of the experience was the service. We arrived a little later for lunch without a reservation and we were told the wait would be about 20 minutes. We were seated in 10 minutes and the wait staff was very helpful keeping us out of the sun during one of the hottest days of the summer.
For appetizers we enjoyed a fresh caprese salad, a cheese board and mixed bruschetta plate. All of these were well-prepared, fresh and a great way to start the meal. Continuing with our plan to eat local specialties, we got two dishes with Umbricelli, a local fresh pasta, one with a sauce of roasted tomatoes and the other with tomatoes and garlic. Our other dinner guest had cinghiale prepared alla cacciatore. This was our first time having slow roasted wild boar, and it will not be the last.
We had other plans for dessert, so we will have to wait until we return to Orvieto to try theirs and I am certain that it will...
