Ristorante Il Giardino da Giovanni — Restaurant in Orvieto

The menu looks great, the service is good and there are wonderfull comments about the place but the food arrived cold and the portions are realy small, especially when the price factor comes in. We came a party of 5 6 people, 4 adults and 2 kids and we all ate a main course and 3 first courses for the table and still all went home hungry. We ordered a medium stake and we got a well done and most of the dishes came cold. The service was okay only, they cane twice, once to take the order and once to give the check. They didn't even have the courtesy to ask how was the food, maybe because they knew the answer. To conclude the wine was the best part of the meal and i don't recommend anyone...

By far the best restaurant in Orvieto with interesting twists on regional food. Nice selection of wines, both 1/2 and full bottles. I'm usually turned off by restaurant that have mostly tourists in them, but it seems that the Italian clientele arrive later. Wide range of dishes with game--duck, boar, pigeon, or duck--and few common dishes. Creative preparations. My only gripe would be to have more purely vegetarian choices for main dishes (sure truffles are great, but there are other things). Reservations...

Excellent meal top to bottom. Incredible food, exceptional service. Our best meal in Italy so far. We started with two pasta dishes (parpadelle and ravioli) and an Orvieto white that was recommended to complement them. We then enjoyed a beef dish with an exceptional regional Syrah, and we finished with the pistachio lava cake. A can't miss restaurant experience.
