This is a decent restaurant in a side street behind Via Roma. There are many tables outside on uneven ground that means tables have to be propped up - not a problem but adds to the charm. 😀 There are also several tables inside. The menu is relatively small but I'm sure you won't find it hard to find something to your liking. 😋 We were happy with our choices of Stuffed Squid and Fried Fish. The Fried Fish comprised of squid, octopus, white fish, calamari and a single, large prawn. The size of the side dish of French fries was huge! There is a reasonable selection of wines, beers and cocktails. Service was good, though there were some language difficulties. All in all its was a pleasant experience.

We (the family of four) ate lunch on 1st of May and it was great that the restaurant was open. The food was really tasty and fine and you can taste the domestic ingredients. Tomato salad with onions and anchovies was super fresh. I ate swordfish rolls, wife sardine balls in tomato sauce and kids took spaghetti bolognese. It took a while to get the food but just because there also was big, big family and it was normal that we will wait a bit, but than again not too much. Service was good (two guys working) and they tried their best to deliver all the orders made. I would recommend this osteria.

I‘ve been in Sicily for 3 weeks and this was by far the worst food I’ve had. Maybe you should stay away from their seafood dishes.. the stuffed sardines were dry and the stuffing didn’t taste of anything The stuffed octopus tasted off, and the tomato salad consisted of an unpassionately cut tomato, some anchovies on it, red onions and 4 olives.. again: maybe I ordered the wrong things

Addendum: Today I was served the worst tiramisu ever: neither creamy nor creamy or even moist - a piece of dry cake instead.

And the lasagne before that: far too big and unfortunately also very dry - with too much pasta and not enough meat. A very disappointing experience, without any culinary pleasure - good thing there's Lidl round the corner. I quickly bought some Greek yoghurt there and some fresh berries at the market so that my meal of the day didn't end in disaster.

22 euros - money thrown away. What a shame. 30.04.25

A charming osteria with very nice service: attentive, they don't take everything away from the table straight away, but ask if you'd like to have some more bread?

I opted for jacket potatoes and a salad.

The food at the other tables looked very good.

The wine by the glass is delicious and reasonably priced. There are a lot of Italians here as guests and I will be happy to come back.

Edit: 02.12.24

If you only want to drink a glass of wine here, you can also do so at lunchtime. However, there are no olives, but nuts.

I made the mistake of ordering some Pommes frites to nibble on.

They were good too, and not deep-fried in rancid fat.

However, the fact that you then pay 5 euros plus 2 euros Coperto, i.e. 7 euros, for them - that annoyed me.

So I nibbled on 7 small pommes frites and paid 1 euro for each one ;-).

As an osteria, I would rather do without Coperto in this case than a regular guest... ...I probably won't go there again.

I experience the hospitality and generosity of Italian restaurants outside of Italy as being so much greater than in Italy itself.

An...

Looks very inviting and we saw the outside area almost full which drew us in. But, unfortunately the worst meal we have ever experienced on vacation. Anaemic sad looking salad, which looked like it was made by a beginner. No thought or care in it what so ever and bland, basic. The fried seafood dish was rubbery stale and chewy, we ate it what we could to be polite and then after went to a great place to please our appetite. Nice music, Service was nice, but we unfortunately felt we couldn't speak up about the food. Mainly based on not getting a check in during or after our meal, e.g 'was / is everything okay' I make a far better tasty salad on a daily basis.

Don't get...
