Esperienza terribile / Terrible Experience:- Sat to eat before 8pm. Incredibly slow service. Eventually had antipasti & then pasta, then waited an age for meat course. Eventually went to manageress to cancel last course since we'd had enough waiting, it was 10pm by then. We had finished our wine. It was obvious they had forgotten us but the manageress insisted we sit & wait. We asked to be billed for what we had had, she refused & started shouting at us. Unable to reason with her we walked away; he screamed she would call the police; I said go ahead. She followed us up the road screeching like a banshee. Eventually a police car did come by, she shouted we hadn't paid. We explained our case. She maintained we cancelled the meat order because we were full up! A disgusting shocking barefaced lie. She continued to shout & lie [my wife is a fluent Italian speaker]. Police explained we had cancelled order but had to return to pay for what we had had. The matter was settled. Police escorted us after back to hotel & said "would we like to press charges for the verbal abuse?" We declined just wishing to put the dreadful experience behind us. We were both thoroughly shocked by this harridan, so that is why I am offering this warning to others. Everyone at this restaurant had been waiting an age; twelve Chinese persons waited 45 minutes for their salmon, they were on the verge of walking out. This awful manageress used their plight as the reason why our meat course did not arrive, but it was obvious that they had forgotten us; our waitress was astonished we had not been served our meat. I can't comment on the food, only received half of it! Mortified by this offensive shameful behaviour. Be warned. Manageress is a shocking abusive...

I recently visited Scjacùra and was deeply disappointed by the service we received. From the moment we were seated, it was clear that the staff had no interest in tending to our table. Our plates sat uncleared for a full 10 minutes after finishing our meal, and we had to ask for cutlery and water twice before they were provided.
To make matters worse, we were brought bread without requesting it and then charged an exorbitant 5€ for it. Every other restaurant we have visited has offered bread free of charge. This felt like a blatant scam, marking the first proper scam restaurant we've encountered on our trip.
The food itself was merely okay and certainly did not justify the 5-star rating this restaurant currently holds. Furthermore, the head waiter attempted to overcharge us with a doubled service fee for no explained reason. Only after I challenged the charge was it corrected to the appropriate amount.
Overall, the experience was far below acceptable standards. This establishment needs to address serious issues with both its service and honesty if it hopes to maintain any semblance of a good reputation. I strongly advise potential diners to be wary and consider other dining options such as the neighbouring resurants who we also dined with and was a much more desirable dining experience.

Read moreMy wife and I were disappointed with the restaurants quality of food and their aperol spritz when we stopped in on Saturday - January 28, 2023 for an aperitivo after a late afternoon concert was cancelled because of a musicians strike. The outdoor heated seating area was right up our alley. The service was excellent. The location on Via Principe di Belmonte is close to Teatro Politeama Garibaldi in Piazza Ruggero Settimo. Now for the negatives: Our aperol spritz had way too much ice that watered down our drink. We ordered the 'street food mix plater' for 10 Euro. There was a pile of potato chips and fries - not what we expected and just 3 small pieces each of some traditional Sicilian street food. It was my mistake for not asking what food is on the mix platter. The potato chips with rosemary & cold served fries were not the right fit for us. So, we split a pizza - labeled something like a 'touch of Sicily' with anchoives and small tomatoes. It cost 12 Euro - 2 or 4 more Euro than the regular list of pizzas. So, we thought okay lets order the touch of Sicily. Yikes - - the pizza had way too much bread crust, 2 anchovies cut in half and the tomatoes looked like they were just thrown on the pizza - 12 on one side - 4 on the other. Maybe this happened because we are tourists and not...
