LA DUCHESSA Pizza & Bistrot — Restaurant in Parma

A good ristorante just across the road from the pedestrian area of Parma.

Three of us turned up with no reservation and were seated immediately. The place has a mix of ages and a lively atmosphere.

The service was fast and efficient. The menu was in Italian and English. Our order was taken after about 5 minutes. The food turned up quickly but not suspiciously fast. There were two pizzas, a fish dish and a couple of sides (fries and grilled vegetables).

The service was good, the food was good; the number of Italians in here (single diners as well as large families) supports my personal feeling that it was a decent place for a reasonable price.

There's a lot of pizza on the menu (the clue is in the place name!). Option of normal or grande. The normal was more than I should have had (I'm average) so if you're really really hungry then maybe the grande otherwise the normal should suit you. I saw some boxes being brought back to the tables so it's likely you can take the uneaten pizza home.

While this wasn't especially "grand" it was a good meal for a good price and I felt comfortable here. I've had more expensive and adventurous meals but felt out of place.

It's cheap.. or nicely say.. not expensive. 16 euro for a bottle Valpolicella is really one of the best deals in any Italian restaurant if you could get it. Only this would let me come back. The Pizza Salami Picante... maybe I not check correctly.. but is this a vegetarian version?? Very hard to find the Salami.. ok 16 euro.. but better make it 18.. and have some Salami.. lucky I order it with Gorgonzola and Rucola. So it was something that made it spicy . I think said the Pizza is done ok. You must like the big side, seems a Romematic thing.. for me not needed location is perfect, and very friendly staff. So, if there was just some Salami picante on the Pizza.. I would go for the max score. Keep in mind.. maybe just for in the winter. In the evening...

Una stella va data per la posizione in piazza in pieno centro ma il resto è stato davvero deludente. Pizza veramente scarsa, eravamo un gruppo numeroso e molte pizze erano di dimensione molto più piccola delle altre (non avevamo richiesto pizze grandi o baby ma tutti pizze normali) e in molte avanzavano almeno cinque centimetri dal bordo del piatto. Camerieri poco professionali, alcuni davano risposte ironiche, troppo ironiche che sfociano poi in mancanze di rispetto. Una ragazza del nostro tavolo ha ordinato una birra ripensandoci voleva cambiare con una coca cola ma le è stato risposto "no ti facciamo ubriacare" e realmente le è stato impedito di ordinare la bevanda richiesta e le è stata portata una birra. Uno in particolare ha chiesto il numero di telefono, tra l'altro mandando un altro collega a farlo al posto suo, a una ragazza del nostro tavolo (atteggiamento per nulla professionale). Come se non bastasse alla fine del servizio mentre noi raccoglievamo i soldi di ognuno per dare il totale e non pagare uno ad uno in cassa , che ovviamente non tutti avevano precisi, pochissima disponibilità e mancanza di educazione perché ancora una volta il cameriere che ha mandato il collega a chiedere il numero di telefono risponde sgarbato dicendo che in cassa non cambiano i soldi, che non hanno banconote da cinque ne moneta. Quest'ultimo si offre di cambiare i soldi con quelli che aveva in tasca (come se dovesse perderci i soldi che ci avrebbe cambiato) e con atteggiamento arrogante e spocchioso poi chiede "be cosa vuoi?!" "quanto ti serve?!" alla nostra risposta "servono cinque euro di resto." lui ribatte nuovamente '' be vai a pagare in cassa te lo devo dare io il resto, ma ti decidi?! " quindi oltre alla mancanza di educazione anche un atteggiamento quasi bipolare perché prima nega ogni possibilità di cambio o resto, si propone di cambiare i soldi con quelli che aveva in tasca e poi risponde con arroganza e ci manda in cassa dove fino a poco prima mancavano banconote monete e tutto quanto per effettuare un cambio o avere il resto.
