Il monumento fu inaugurato il 30 giugno 1956,con una grande cerimonia ci fu anche il Presidente della Repubblica Giovanni Gronchi ed altre autorità. Nel 1961 è stata vittima di un attentato e la statua del partigiano a terra fu restaurata e posta in altra sede al suo posto è stata messa una copia. Nel 1966 l'opera vinse il premio nazionale di scultura dell'accademia di San Luca.

Il monumento fu inaugurato il 30 giugno 1956,con una grande cerimonia ci fu anche il Presidente della Repubblica Giovanni Gronchi ed altre autorità. Nel 1961 è stata vittima di un attentato e la statua del partigiano a terra fu restaurata e posta in altra sede al suo posto è stata messa una copia. Nel 1966 l'opera vinse il premio nazionale di scultura dell'accademia di San Luca.
