Disappointing/overrated

Environment- decor is nice & refined. Toilets are rather unhygienic: only one toilet with sticky floors, paper on the ground and smelly.

Food Antipasti~ We took a “selection of sea food appetisers”: tasty but small & most was deep fried. & “deep fried cod with an aromatic mayo”; nice platter. Primo piatti ~ “Paccheri with fish, tagliolini with rabbit sauce” both dishes were really nice: fresh pasta, savoury and well cooked. “Bavette with mussel and clams” was a bit disappointing because it didn’t reflect the fishy flavours..rather cooked in olive oil & topped with mussels & clams. Overall: the food is good but you have to be lucky with your dishes while certain are disappointing.

Service - Mixed feelings They got one of our dishes wrong & apologised (it happens, no issue here).

One waiter gave us the bill while we weren’t finished/hadn’t asked for it yet..one way to push your guests out the door.

Overall: Kind but certain hiccups took place. waiters looked rather overwhelmed & in a hurry all the time.

Prices: correct

Conclusion: it’s alright with it’s positive and negative. Was...

TOURISTS BE WARY!

Had a pretty terrible experience here, we came in for a light dinner, we asked for a ravioli (for my wife) and I asked for a steak, I didn’t specify the quantity though would of thought it was clear as i had ordered a main for my wife that this was for me.

A portion for 2 arrived, so we essentially had 3 mains, when we came in for a light dinner.

To top it off the waiter, mid meal while clearing around us took the platter of steak which wasn’t finished, didn’t ask to see if we wasn’t finished.

The bill came to €102, €70 for the steak alone.

My total bill was €102 and I thought I’d pay on card surprised with how much the bill was, I was then told the card machine didn’t work, a full restaurant but no working card machine. So has to use most of my cash which for a tourist isn’t ideal.

If your a tourist I’d definitely check your order as you go along and don’t leave it to the waiters who just assume everything, or you’ll end up with a big bill and have it cleared mid meal.

One star as the food was...

We have randomly entered this amazing restaurant and it couldn’t have been better!! Ika and Tatiana gave us an exquisite explanation of he wine list and the dishes. The food was the best we had in Italy and we had went to many other places. After our lunch we wondered around Pisa as the location is in the heart of the city. Afterwards we have returned to get another bottle of the same wine we had for lunch and Ika and Tatiana were cleaning up after dinner service and they have recognized us. With a very warm welcome we talked about the restaurant and the amazing history of it and at one certain point we have asked for a cab. By coincidence the owners were also departing at this time and they have offered to drive us. We were extremely impressed by their genuine friendliness and kindheartedness.

When we have arrived to the hotel, they have suggested us other amazing places to wispy during our trip.

We would recommend La Pergoletta with the...

The atmosphere wasn’t very welcoming at first, but our waiter was such a nice guy. He kept saying, ‘as long as the lady is happy, the man will be happy too,’ which made us smile. 😅 We had a very good Chablis, along with calamari and steak. For dessert, we asked for strawberries with amaretto and ice cream — the waiter even went searching in the kitchen to try and make it happen, but in the end we just had amaretto. He also made a show of shaking the bottle while pouring, making sure I was happy with the wine after tasting. The steak itself was pretty standard. We ordered potatoes and vegetables on the side — the potatoes were fine, while the vegetables with olive oil were surprisingly tasty.

Eating our lunch at La Pergoletta was a highlight of our trip to Pisa. It is a little hidden gem away from the tourists by the tower. It was a treat to walk down the alleys to find this place. I had made reservations online in advanced, and they had a table waiting for us when we arrived. Our waiter was AMAZING, he took special care to meet all of our needs, and keep our little ones fed and happy. We loved our food. We ended up with more food than we had planned. It was all cooked perfectly. From seafood to steak. So many yummy options. They were so kind to make a tomato pasta for our young ones as well. Highly recommend.
