Peperosa — Restaurant in Pisa

We had a very fun old year's evening there! All the food was very tasty, just a tad salty (I usually eat my food with almost no salt, so I am quite sensitive to that).

The waiters were very polite and entertaining. One had eye for detail, made sure to describe the dishes, keep us entertained, while the other just made sure the food arrived (still in a very polite way, but his style was in contrast with the main host, making it cute and creating a smile on our face as well)

The portions were extremely generous, in such that I could not finish my dessert and even felt I'd eaten way too much. (It might be a point to fine-tune for them, to save some euro's on the food). I love starters in general, and this time we got many very tasty starters before moving to our 2 primi and than a secondo. It was a set menu for old year's with some nice modern twists to traditional Italian food.

With all due respect… what me and my friends tasted seemed like some sort of culinary experiment. The starters included rice with ice cream on top which caught us off guard. Every single dish included various complex ingredients with questionable compatibility. This goes against the simplicity of Italian culinary tradition After several serving it became rather funny as we became certain that whatever there was to expect it would definitely surprise our taste buds, alas, not in a positive way. After all, the most noticeable and basic ingredient, salt, made our experience rather disappointing. There was just too much of it, in everything. Me and my partner were blown away by the experience we had here. The dinner started off great with the “l’antipasto del peperosa”, the waiter will ask for allergies, intolerances and dislikes, after that you will get served various unique starters like you’ve never tried before, and the chef managed to pull it off too. They are very generous, 18 euros for 5 starter dishes for both of us. To top it off with a great pasta for the main meal for the both of us. The service is also great, we were late for the appointment due to train delays, but the waiter still warmly welcomed us.
