Il Covo dei Saraceni - Ristorante — Restaurant in Polignano a Mare

The restaurant has an amazing view, however, unfortunately it seems that they believe a fantastic view means that they should in fact offer terrible service.

We had a horrible experience - I had planned for months to visit Il Bastione, the restaurant unfortunately cancelled my private room as an event was on. To make up for it, they promised a table with a view on their terrace. When I arrived, there were no tables, to which the manager responded 'it's not my problem' and proceeded to be incredibly rude. Not offering solutions, not wishing to take our custom.

He then proceeded to list the dates that all of the tables (some of them empty) had booked - only quoting the date that the reservation team rescheduled my booking, not the original date.

My partner speaks Italian, and the manager and his team showed themselves to be incredibly rude, lacking service, and as per other reviews, standards have slipped. This proved to be a blessing as we subsequently had fantastic meals at other restaurants - Specchia Sant D'oronzo, Da Vittorino by Vecchi Marinai, Osteria Spiga, Antiche Mura.

What an awful way to spend money! It’s not that the food was awful, it was basic! Food is way too overpriced! Nothing (except for the raw fish) was of a standard worth paying that much for! And with the price you don’t even get decent presentation of the dishes.

On top of that the staff was very bad: the waiters tried to squeeze past us and kept hitting our shoulders and arms. Worst of all, the wine taster would approve the wine and then the waiter would leave their cup empty and only fill those of other people... what?

Honestly regretting leaving that amount of money here - could have eaten better for...

This was the second time I went to this restaurant, I had called earlier in the morning to reserve a table for lunch, I spoke with the hotel receptionist on the phone, I told her that it was for today at lunch and she confirmed the reservation. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed, I went to ask at the hotel reception, and the woman told me that she had misunderstood, the restaurant is closed today, but nowhere on the website or in google was it specified, it actually said open.
