Trattoria da Mario — Restaurant in Rapallo

A really good house wine - start with this, because this is the only thing in that restaurant that I really liked. The owner was absolutely indifferent and not so attentive for us. If you are Italian you are welcome, but if you aren’t Italian so the things are different. Because of the rainy and cold day we asked for a table close to the heating, and the owner refused because this two tables (which are close to the heating) were reserved. And one of them was really reserved, but the other remained free throughout the end of the evening. And when we asked for the check, we just formally received it. But on the next close table with Italian clients he gave some digestives for a compliment with a bill. So this was a really disappointing experience in Rapallo. Cold and unfriendly attitude. At the same time food was average and nothing extraordinary - especially the plato with grilled fish and shrimps, and fried calamari, definitely didn’t liked it. Yes, we’ve eaten it, because it is food, but definitely expected more from this family restaurant. I don’t think that we’ve eaten a tasty food in this trattoria. Locale affollato, servizio pessimo, cibo scadente, prezzi troppo elevati per la qualità.

Siamo stati a cena in questo ristorante molto consigliato dalle varie guide online (Tripadvisor, Google maps) e dal nostro albergo. Nonostante avessimo prenotato e fossimo con qualche minuto di ritardo quando siamo arrivati il tavolo non era ancora pronto e soprattutto era in una posizione pessima in mezzo alla stradina e al passaggio dei camerieri. Abbiamo chiesto quindi di essere spostati ad un’altro tavolo libero e ci è stato concesso. Ma i veri disagi iniziano con l’iniziare de servizio: innanzitutto camerieri scoordinati nel prendere le ordinazioni tanto che sono arrivati gli antipasti prima ancora che ordinassimo il vino. Una volta arrivato il vino non ci è stato neanche chiesto chi lo volesse assaggiare ma sono andati direttamente dal mio ragazzo. Finito l’antipasto arriva sempre lo stesso cameriere a chiederci se volessimo il dolce mentre noi aspettavamo ancora i primi. Per quanto riguarda il cibo in sè ci aspettavamo molto di più da un locale che si proclama contemporaneo (e ha anche prezzi adeguati). I piatti erano scadenti sia nel gusto che nella qualità, la mia pasta al nero di seppia con frutti di mare (foto allegata) era una quantità esagerata e risultava una poltiglia informe senza troppo sapore. Anche gli antipasti e l’altro primo non erano buoni, per non parlare del pane vecchio di almeno 2 giorni. Infine anche il conto ha creato problemi, poiché vista la brutta esperienza con antipasti e primi abbiamo chiesto di annullare il secondo che avevamo ordinato inizialmente ma arrivati al conto ci è stata caricata ugualmente e solo una volta fatto notare ci sono stati restituiti i soldi...

Authentic Ligurian food here. The pasta is exquisite. We have eaten there during the Easter weekend, twice. The second time we actually drove all the way back from La Spezia to have lunch there. The setting is nothing special and it is located on a pedestrian touristic street where one could think that it’s the kind of place to avoid. But it’s quite the opposite.
