During a lovely week in Ravenna, we had the good fortune of getting to know some of the locals fairly well. From one of those we learned about this recently opened and quite amazing restaurant, which was enthusiastically praised - quite rightly as it turned out. The cook used to work in a Michelin restaurant in Modena (and other high class restaurants around the world) but opted for something new. He (Silvio by name) now applies his mastery to more everyday or if you like plainer dishes, however the background makes itself felt in the very high quality of the food served. We wanted good pizza, and chose this pizzeria based on many positive reviews praising their wood fired pizzas- these are made with quality ingredients and cooked perfectly. We arrived without reservations at 19.00 just as the restaurant was opening and were seated quickly. It was a pleasure to encounter staff who were kind, attentive, courteous, and let me practice my Italian language skills with them. We asked to sit outside and enjoy the patio even though it was a cool evening, so they set a place at an outside table just for us. This place is a little off the main tourist path and the prices were quite reasonable, especially for the wonderful meal we enjoyed! I wish we were going to be here for a while, as we would definitely return again....

Service seemed brusque at first but it wasn’t just us, and it got friendlier.
We had the insalata mixta, which is typically boring in the Italian restaurants I’ve tried over the past few weeks, but was great and clearly fresh here.
I ordered the swordfish pasta with fennel & zucchini flowers, it was fantastic, clearly fresh seafood, & not at all heavy.
