Appalling experience that honestly felt like a scam.
We were in a group of 8. The waiter was initially super nice and friendly. We asked for recommendations and he suggested the ravioli of the day, instead of the regular one listed on the menu.
We got instead the ravioli listed on the menu without letting us know. We noticed half way through the meal that it was different than described. Most people didnt like it as it was different than originally requested. Portion was quite small, texture was like sawdust. Many people had a few ravioli that were empty inside.
When serving wine, he poured liters of it per glass, clearly to make it run out faster so we ordered more.
We ordered stuffed eggplants and the portion size was inconsistent: one person got 2 halves, the other only 1, but both at the same price.
We ordered the bill and noticed they charged us one extra water bottle. We told them we were not happy about receiving the wrong dishes. The waiter suddenly got very defensive and confrontational, saying that apparently we liked the food anyway. No apologies whatsoever. He offered a ‘discount’ of 9e on a 209e bill still.
Later on I realized that they also charged us for the original ravioli that was 1 euro more expensive, even though we got the menu one, but it was too late to complain about it too.
Avoid at all costs, particularly due to the waiter’s behaviour.
Edit: the reply of the restaurant is a joke. I said scam to the whole experience, not to the water bottle specifically. No one came to tell us that you were out of the ravioli we ordered, we simply got the plates and that was it. We didnt get the house wine because the waiter said you were out of it. The ‘5% discount’ (4% actually, if you do the math) didnt compensate for the extra 6 euros charged on the ravioli we didnt get (we were charged 18e for the 6 ravioli instead 17e of the ravioli from the menu), plus your waiter only reduce 2 euros from the final bill from the wrong water bottle rather than 2.80. Technically no discount was given. And what about the eggplant we got with one half missing? And the...
Read morei was really impressed with the quality and flavours of this seafood!
we had some really nice local white wine and fresh seafood. the calamari with sundried tomatoes might’ve been the star of the show, it’s a combination of flavours i wouldn’t really think of but it works so well together. crispy and tender octopus with tangy marinated tomatoes, lovely!
the amberjack was really good too, again i would rarely think of having it with mushrooms but wow! i especially loved the mushrooms as a side, they were perfectly chewy and sour, contrasting perfectly with the rich marinade on the fish.
the strozzapreti dish was great, the shrimp were mostly there for flavour but i actually enjoyed tasting the shrimp shells for some good aromatics. pasta was clearly home-made and beautiful.
the fried seafood was also great, maybe the batter was slightly too thick but still the fish shone through the dish. very happy with it.
i do think they were slightly understaffed with just two people on shift, one of them was a bit younger and couldn’t take on all the tasks, which is fine but i would look to employ one more person. it took a while to get our dishes and they even missed one of them, so we had to remind them.
would nevertheless recommend for a nice lunch or...
Read moreOverall we had mixed feelings about our dinner there. We saw it while walking and went in. I know i was in Italy but i expected english menu as well to be more easy for us because we didn't know what to order. The stuff was not polite and helpful and they needed to tell them to help us with the menu and the answer was to use the google translator. At least soneone explained a few things about the food. The starters were just tinned food that was placed in plates at least this is what i thought and too pricey. The main was good and the price was ok.one plate was very late and another didn't come. I don't know if it was us or this happened to others also. The environment was good but it was a mixed experience. I would try something else next...
