If you’re seeking an authentic Roman experience, look no further than Alle Fratte di Trastevere. Nestled in the heart of Rome, this charming eatery comes highly recommended by RomeWise, and for good reason. From the moment you step through the door, you’re enveloped in the warm embrace of Roman hospitality.

Alle Fratte di Trastevere boasts a menu that’s a veritable feast of Roman. Whether you’re craving a classic Margherita pizza, hearty meatballs with pasta, or a refreshing salad, they have something to satisfy every palate. During our visit, we indulged in these delights and were left utterly satisfied.

One of the hallmark was its exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like valued guests, attending to our every need with genuine warmth and efficiency. Their passion for providing a memorable dining experience shines through in every interaction.

What sets Alle Fratte di Trastevere apart is its unassuming charm. This is not a place for pomp and pretension; rather, it’s a haven for those who appreciate genuine hospitality and exceptional food. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, allowing the flavors of Rome to take center stage.

In a city teeming with dining options, Alle Fratte di Trastevere stands out as a true gem. With its delightful cuisine, impeccable service, and welcoming ambiance, it’s a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic taste of Rome. I can’t recommend this place enough you won’t...

Saw this little place just as it opened at 6.30 so we were given a seat outside. It feels rustic and comfy, not sure what all the eclectic witchy stuff downstairs near the toilet is about though. The place fills up quickly so you either have to reserve or get there early. I don’t know the name of the man who served us (he looks like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ johnson) but he was brilliant 🤩 we ordered the garlic ciabatta, fillet mignon in green pepper sauce, the Ravioli al Ragu, and roast potatoes and Cicoria ( sautéed cichory) sides, bit too much food really we could have left the potatoes. Everything was delicious, and a 1/2 litre of house red which had good legs and was passably good, at €7.50 we were not expecting Ripasso. For dessert they recommended a dish from Napoli called Babbarum cake which wasn’t on the menu and made fresh that day, like a light sponge, soaked it a golden boozy liquor with whipped cream and berries, this was served with 2 ice cold glasses of some kind of alcoholic drink which complimented it well and settled the stomach, a fantastic end to the meal! hangover free the next day too 😜 so glad we ate here on...

Dinner for two on Saturday night (didn’t make a reservation). When we first entered, it was rather quiet, but soon the restaurant was completely filled with guests.

We ordered: Seafood antipasto Assorted bruschetta Seafood spaghetti Mushroom truffle risotto Veal in masala sauce 0.5L house wine (red) ice tea

We were really satisfied. Note that the restaurant provides a basket of bread (€2) and it comes with olive oil drizzle if you wish.

The total of the bill comes to €64.50 and it was a great experience. Everything was exceptional, aside from the veal, which was very tender but it’s not “wow”, and would not order again. If we didn’t order the veal, it would have brought the bill down to €52.50 for two people.

In terms of prices, restaurant in this area is definitely more competitive than that near Colosseum and Termini. The quality of food is much higher and at night, it’s much more vibrant. Would definitely visit again!

** losing one star for the veal. The experience was great, and with the veal being the last item served and not exceptional, it dampens the...

This is by far the very best and affordable ristorante in Trastevere, and we know: we been there around for years and saw all trattorias, pizzeria’s, osterias and what have you. Personal service, authentic Italian food cooked to perfection, pasta like God meant pasta to taste, great and personal management by Riccardo (on behalf of his family): this is the place you want to be! And on top of that: they serve the very best Nobel Prize winning Cheesecake in the world (and I promise you: we are real experts!) Moist, tasty, soft, not greasy, abundantly drizzled with red fruit sauce: Walhalla! Only last week we visited them for the first time. Tonight was the second time. No doubt left. Do you appreciate authentic Italian food, prepared with eye for quality and taste? Don’t waste more time and to there! Tell them Frits told you to 😉 PS: This is the only place in Trastevere where you can take the house wine: it is so good and full of taste, glasses are full and prices are low. When we asked how come, Riccardo said: “we don’t play games here”. Exactly that!
