Right across the street from the Roman Forum exit, we decided after all that walking we needed to sit and collect ourselves after a long tour. There are multiple workers out front who will approach and ask you to see their menu to convince you to sit and eat. This is most definitely a tourist trap restaurant so expect it to be busy and pricey. Having said that, if you're eating by the Roman Forum, you shouldn't expect anything less. Octopus Salad - This was good with a solid portion size so no complaints there. Octopus was nice and tender with a nice "bounce" to the bite! Mixed with tomatoes, olives, and some lemon, it was a great starter to our meal. 5/5 Carbonara - It was my first carbonara in Rome and my expectations to be honest were sky high as its one of the 4 classic Roma pastas. It unfortunately did not meet my expectations. Presentation was nice coming out in a saucepan. However, the moment I laid eyes on it, I was disappointed... the sauce had curdled, and I was looking at scrambled eggs in my pasta. Pasta was cooked al dente and the taste itself was decent however the curdled sauce couldn't help me recover what I thought of the dish. 2/5 Pomodoro - The sauce was very good and pasta was al dente. Was both nicely sweet and hearty to coat all the pasta. Overall a basic dish done right. 5/5 Overall the food was good for a quick eat and the ambience although busy was nice as they have a tented outdoor area with fans and misters going to keep you cool. Seating space is very tight (which I imagine is to fit all the tourists leaving the Forum). As mentioned above, do expect to pay a premium here. With all the other solid reviews, I'll just imagine that my carbonara was an unlucky chance dish (although in my books its sacrilegious to serve a carbonara sauce that's curdled).

This place was delicious! I’ve been looking for a legit Italian pizza place and despite being in Italy, this has been the most legit and delicious! I got the cheese pizza, bruschetta, and the lemonade! The atmosphere is really nice, it’s slightly fancy, but not where you have to dress up for it. It’s also very clean which I was happy about. The lemonade was the best I’ve ever had! It was very refreshing. The pizza was REALLY good! And I used my hand to eat it half way through and I didn’t get weird looks which is nice 👍🏻 the bruschetta was really good as well, the only downside was it fell apart quickly 🥲 I also ended up getting the tiramisu which was really good and it tasted better then most tiramisu I’ve had in the past. The food was a little more on the pricey side though, for example we spent 27€ on desserts but I would absolutely say it is worth it. My parents and I are talking right now about maybe coming back later in the day for dinner 😂 The waiters were also really nice and we didn’t wait very long for food. And the waiters didn’t wait too long to ask hat we wanted for drinks/meals etc. This place is really delicious, I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone nearby! (You should get the lemonade if you come here!)

this is the definition of what i call Italian food gone bad!! the food was truly terrible! if you call this Italian food its truly a shame! i ordered the tortellini, it was served to me less than 3 minutes since i ordered. It was cold and mushy! Before i actually ordered i asked the waiter whether the pasta is freshly made? he said that “yes it is”. clearly it isn’t its frozen and reheated! i did gave a feedback that it was cold and mushy, they took the plate went back to heat it up instead of making a new batch! it was extremely disappointing!! i ordered the tomato salad on toast, tomato thingy was okay, but the bread was rock hard they didn’t even bother toasting it! it was like chewing pebbles!! pls do not waste your money here!!!! eat somewhere else that offers freshly made pasta since ur in italy, instead of a wannabe italian restaurant that tries to cut corners!! i was so awfully disappointed!! recommended places: trattoria pinseria tosca pasta e vino (behind patheon)

Angelino “ai Fori” dal 1947 is an absolute gem in the heart of Rome. The combination of excellent food, great drinks, and a breathtaking view of the Forum Romanum makes this restaurant a must-visit. The menu offers a fantastic selection of traditional Italian dishes, all prepared with high-quality ingredients and authentic flavors. From perfectly cooked pasta to fresh seafood and mouthwatering desserts, every bite was a delight. The drink selection, including Italian wines and cocktails, complemented the meal beautifully. What truly sets Angelino apart is the stunning location. Sitting outside with a view of the ancient ruins creates an unforgettable atmosphere, blending history with exceptional cuisine. The service was also outstanding—friendly, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience in Rome, whether for lunch or dinner, Angelino “ai Fori” dal 1947 is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

Beware overcharging scam: We ordered two glasses of red wine. The over friendly waiter encouraged us to have whole bottle. We politely said "no". Then a very friendly waitress came to our table and started opening a bottle of red wine. So, we relented and said yes. When the bill came it was over EUR 100. I asked how a bottle of red wine could be EUR100 and I was told the over friendly waitress started opening the most expensive wine in the restaurant. The way this "works" is you are tired when entering restaurant. Once bottle is opened in front of you then it constitutes a formal "purchase". It is very difficult to complain since you have technically "accepted" the over-priced offering (without knowing the true price). So, in effect you cannot escape. To cap off our trip to Colloseum and as we boarded the metro train my partner had her wallet stolen by pickpockets. We had a truly horrific visit to Colloseum - BEWARE

The food is fast food like. Absolutely no flavor, very poorly cooked. I ordered a bruschetta and a pasta dish. The bruschetta was a total joke. The tomatoes pieces were too big, not properly seasoned, and the bread was not toasted. So it was a mushy mess. I felt like I was eating a tomato salad with a piece of white bread. The pasta dish tasted like it was made by a 5 year old - they just boiled pasta (it was pretty hard actually - not al dente), put some tomato sauce, melted cheese and a few pistachio pieces. I couldn’t finish the pasta, it was so bland. Oh, check this out, the black olives they use on pasta and pizza have seeds in them!!! Good luck not choking on them or not breaking your teeth!!! The service is one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. The waiter came up to us looking annoyed and the first thing he said was, “Ready?”. Unbelievable . The only good thing about this joint is the location, that’s it.
