🍕 7 Must-Try Restaurants in Rome

All 6 of us had one of our best dining experiences not just in Italy but anywhere, thanks to our amazing server, Angelo, and the delicious food. It's a short walk from the Colloseum or the Roman Forum, and situated right next to a bunch of cute streets that are worth walking down just for the unique small Italian feel. The restaurant has 2 locations and we were in line at the other one in the middle of the streets when Angelo came up to us and said he had more space at the other one. As the only vegan in our party, there were less options for me. I got the Aglio Olio and the grilled vegetables. Both were delicious. Angelo was very conscientious about making sure I knew what my options were. He even went next door to the gelato place to get me fruit gelati since they didn't have any vegan dessert options besides fruit (although that might be a normal thing since he mentioned they have a partnership with them). Every person in our group was happy with what they got, which included pistachio crusted ravioli, octopus, mussels, chicken and fries, calzone, cacio e pepe, bruschetta, tiramisu, cannoli, and maybe some other things I'm forgetting. The Aperol spritzer and fresh mint lemonade were great too. Angelo also gave us a ton of laughs. It was an amazing time and we felt like part of the family.

From the moment I stepped into this restaurant, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu was filled with a wide variety of dishes to choose from, and I was pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and creativity in each option. Upon receiving our appetizers, it was evident that the chef had a true passion for their craft. Each bite was bursting with flavor, leaving me eager to try our main courses. When our entrees arrived, I was not disappointed. The presentation was exquisite, and the taste was simply divine. The balance of flavors was perfect, and each ingredient complemented the others perfectly. No meal is complete without dessert, and this restaurant truly excelled in this area. The dessert menu offered an enticing selection of sweet treats, each one a work of art. The dessert we chose was delectable, rounding off our meal in the best possible way. To top it all off, the service was impeccable. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations throughout our meal. They were friendly and ensured that our experience was nothing short of exceptional.

The food is great, but the service destroys everything. The thing is: the waitress is super nice and approachable when she was waiting the table next to us. Big smile and warm attitude. But, I swear her smile vanished like in no time when she turned to us. I thought maybe I was over sensitive. Then I swear to Caesar’s Tomb that the same thing happened again when the waitress was bringing the bill. I have been visiting Rome for 2 weeks and have eaten in dozens of restaurants. I know what professional catering attitude is, and that service the lady offered to us is absolutely unacceptable. She didn’t even fake out of the professional courtesy. Not sure why and I don’t care why. I just need to point it out that this is unparalleled to this great city with such ancient civilization. Also, the glass is not cleaned completely.

Tried to get a table at ristorante Iari The Vino but they were full, so the waitress took us here and said it’s the same kitchen and same restaurant. Read the reviews to make sure it wasn’t a tourist trap. Not sure why our experience was so different to everyone else’s. Maybe it’s the same kitchen but a different chef? The vongole was pretty bland, but acceptable once you add some salt pepper, and the guancele in the pasta alla gricia were lazily chopped and chunky, a little soggy and chewy. My seat was up against a bush, which was quite uncomfortable, with barely any space to move. You can get much better food in Italy. This was very average but edible. They also gave us the wrong bill at the end, with things we didn’t order, so check your bill.

Our lovely waiter, Angelo, walked us from their sister restaurant which was full, to this location on the patio. My table of six got a wide selection of their big drinks (two 1.5L Peronis, one 1L Peroni, one 0.6L Peroni, one half L of red wine, and one 1L of fresh lemonade with mint). Luckily, their bathrooms were well maintained. The quattro fromaggi and margherita pizzas were delicious, as well as their carbonara, gricia, and pistachio and wild boar ravioli. We ordered their carbonara aracini's were crispy and flavourful. The atmosphere was cozy and we would definitely recommend everyone trying this place out!
