I have no idea how people are saying the food here is good. I genuinely believe that they must eat dog food in their normal lives if this is ranked highly.
I was here with my friends and we got carbonara and a couple of pizzas. The pizzas were fine. The base was thin and papery like you would expect, the tomato absolutely okay, but if the cheese was mozzarella then I am a sentient kettle born with thumbs and trained in the English language so that I can work a phone and write reviews.
The carbonara was ridiculously cheesy, like absolutely bathed in cheese. When I started eating it I thought okay they’ve just overloaded the top of it with parmigiano and once I get past that it’ll be better. But no. It was a pasta that was trying to be carbonara but someone applied cheese like it was going out of fashion. I ate half of it and gave it to my friends. They said it reminded them of macaroni cheese.
The beer was beer. The wine was decent.
The staff weren’t rude or anything but they truly mastered the art of nonchalance. I give the service one star because there was barely any. If you want to visit a restaurant where the waiter will take half of your table’s order, and then stare into the distance for a solid 45 seconds so that you start to wonder if he’s got some problems at home, then this is the place for you.
Don’t go here. Don’t be like us. Don’t fall for the reviews of people who eat muck. Just literally walk another 10 minutes and find somewhere that’s not a tourist trap. Please learn from...
Read moreOur Forum Hotel recommended this enoteca a short walk away (any restaurant with wine in the name is probably good), which I give high marks. The hotel made reservations, which I highly recommend if you are thinking of dining around 8p, as we do. We walked past the no-rez line straight to our al fresco table for 6 people. We started with a rich, inky Aglianico and a bright, crisp Pinot Grigio, which paired well with my fried squash blossoms from the daily specials menu and my friend’s fried pecorino balls. Both dishes were very tasty (and mine was delightfully gooey) but mine needed a sauce and I think the cheese balls needed a different sauce. For my squash blossoms I borrowed honey from another friend’s very generous cheese plate and the berry jam from the cheese balls, which worked well, but a light tomato sauce would have worked well too, with both dishes. I followed with another special, raviolo filled with sea bass, accompanied by mussels and clams in the shell, and wonderful tomato sauce. Excellent. The others said they enjoyed their dishes very much, too. Carbonara is one of the world’s great dishes and every restaurant in Rome serves it. This version, which I tasted, was an excellent representation and satisfied both the eyes...
Read moreAs i am writing this review, I am still in Rome and can’t wait to give a review for this restaurant. It is my first time to travel around europe and Rome was my first one. I ate at this restaurant on my 2nd day in Rome as I was looking for an authentic Italian meal. As I came from Colosseum which is like 10-15mins walk from their location, it is very accessible and easy to find. The ambiance of the restaurant is very cozy and homey, and although it is a bit old, there’s a room for improvement. As for the food, I ate calamari and shrimp platter as a starter, thinking that it will be just a small portion, but it was too much for me. ;) the texture is very soft to chew and the taste is sooo good. seafood pasta is also nice, and the T-bone was average for me as some parts of it are chewy, but still i would recommend. AND THE SERVICE… I am a waitress myself, sooo i was soo happy that finally, i was the one who is getting take cared of. the server, i wasn’t able to ask his name, but i think he’s a local italian, he was very attentive and friendly. when I came the 2nd time, he recognized me and welcomed me, and honestly that made me happy. ALL IN ALL, i was satisfied with my experience hoping that tomorrow, on my last day, I still have the time...
