Go here now. I’ll explain below.
My wife & I arrived mid-day in Rome and we’re on our last leg of our European trip. We were tired & starving. Once we finished checking into the hotel, the wife begged me to get food nearby our hotel. Specifically takeaway pizza. When in Rome, right?
I wanted to do some research on what the best place was for takeaway pizza. She said, “No - were going to just walk and find the nearest one.” That’s exactly what we did & we hit the jackpot.
Pizza della Maradinna dei Monte was visited by us three times. We stayed in Rome only three days. You read that right. Every. Single. Day. We. Went. Here.
We simply couldn’t resist it, it was such a cheap cost (€5 each essentially) for a large slice of pizza, that was cut into two and made to be eaten on the go. FYI - Prices of Slices are measured by weight.
The service was quick and straightforward. You pick your flavor, you then show how much you want, they weight in, you pay, then they crisp it up in the overhead oven.
Then they either put it in a pizza box or they slice the pizza in 1/2 with a paper sheet for you to hold while you walk the streets of Rome. We opted for the paper sheet and walking proud with our pizzas.
The two flavors we tried overall were Artichoke & Pepperoni & Margherita.
Both of these pizza flavors were top-tier. The rectangular Roman style pizza, with a crunchier exterior was a new style of pizza for us. It definitely left a favorable impression.
Their sauce is sweet and tastes homemade for sure. The cheese was prevalent as well as the toppings. But the sauce and crust stole the show.
Listen, this is my wife’s favorite pizza she’s ever eaten. It’s one of the best ones I’ve ever had as well.
I think we might have to take a trip back to Rome just for...

I went about a week ago with my family. We ordered two whole pizzas and a draft beer for myself.
The pizzas themselves were just standard… they were the thin kind with a meatier crust. The crust was pretty good. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pizzas however were real soggy towards the center. One of those that you can’t really lift a slice up without it sagging and spilling off all the content on it.
Which is fine… can’t complain given the pizzeria’s location next to big tourist landmarks.
The real problem is the beer. It was warm and flat. After walking 20,000 steps from the Colosseum to the Forum under the August sun, it’s more than disappointing to sink a warm gulp of flat beer… it’s just pure dismay that costed me 5 Euros.
I brought the beer to the server, and informed him that the beer was warm and flat. He then asked me if I would like to put some ice in it…
I requested for a refund or for an exchange of a bottled beer, he replied “That’s not how we do things here”. I suppose then that serving warm flat beer to their customers is how they do things.
No doubt they have a very high rating, which is what attracted us there as well. On their wall, they proudly wrote the words along the lines of “we do not [buy] our reviews”. Perhaps they’ve gotten too proud of themselves...
