The waiters will try to scam you with the bill, in addition to being super pushy (we tried to order two glasses of wine and our waiter tried to sell us on the most expensive bottle of wine on the menu instead) We ordered pasta carbonara and the waiter tried to pretend their carbonara was a “special” one with artichoke etc when he brought it to our table. When the bill came he charged us 18 euro for what the menu listed as a 10 euro dish. The waiter tried to say that was because we ordered the special. Which we reminded him we had not. He then had the audacity to say that we had gestured toward the chalkboard on the sidewalk that said the specials when we said carbonara. I pointed out that even if we had, on the other side of that board we’re listed the normal pasta dishes—including the basic carbonara. Once I offered to speak to his manager if he still disagreed, he immediately said he’d change the bill. And THEN after changing the bill he pretended he had forgotten to add one of our apps and asked for 5 euro cash. I said I was happy to pay by card but not by cash. He also quickly backed down and said it would just be on the house. Probably so I would leave and he wouldn’t risk his boss finding out that this is a play he runs all the time to pocket cash...
Read moreTl:dr avoid at all costs, staff are deceptively friendly, food is mediocre (you can find much better in this city) and they try and squeeze in hidden costs for bread they don't tell you you have to pay for and a 'service charge' per person even though 3/5 of us didn't even order anything.
Normally I wouldn't leave a review just for eating out but this place earned it! Food was mediocre at best (pizza tasted like something you could pick up from a UK supermarket for much less), and the carbonara was the worst my friend ever had. The sauce had the texture and consistency of a slime mould. But if it was just that I wouldn't be here.
The real issue is they charged us a hidden 'service charge' for the tables, table cloths, chairs etc. When we questions this they showed us a small place in the menu at the bottom of a list of food items that said there was a charge per person for the bread and service. THREE OF US DIDN'T EVEN EAT THERE AND THEY STILL CHARGED FOR THE 5 OF US.
Dishonest business practices that shouldn't be allowed! Hope the owner reads this and makes a change.
There were other things like the toilet had no seat and it took a long time to bring the food out but those were the main issues. Would rate 0 stars but the rating doesn't...
Read moreMy family loved this place but after seeing other reviews I can understand the 1 star reviews. We went with the suggested items and were totally treated like family (suckers?) We asked for a two large beers and were brought Octoberfest sized steins of beer. My 15 and 17 year olds loved it. (Yes we shared) We ordered dishes to eat family style and the servers deboned the sea bass and cut up and finished cooking the steak table side. We enjoyed the treatment. We ordered two deserts and they brought us limoncello that we didnt order, but frankly, it was awesome! We came to Rome hoping to have an experience of a lifetime and it happened at this tiny restaurant. We expected it to be expensive and it was beyond expectations! However, it was a great experience that my kids, my wife and I will cherish. After eating we walked inside and were astonished at the closet of a kitchen and the dirty dishes stacked up on tables from the lunch crowd. There was absolutely no place to put the dirty dishes in the kitchen until the cooking concluded. Since everyone was eating outside this didn't offend me where it might others. There was only one toilet, but it was clean when...
