We had lunch at this place. The design of the restaurant is aligned with the theme of the city and has gentle motives resembling the Jewish culture. Quite stylish. The facility is clean and tidy. We were greeted and offered a table. The waiter and other staff were attentive and courteous. At the table, our waiter received our order and did not mention anything re: service charge / house bread. We asked for tap water (it is usually provided at no charge), and were served a 1 l re-usable bottle. The food was ready in reasonable time and it was delicious. Good presentation, too. As we ordered coffee, the waiter brought us a piece of cherry tart on the house (a sweet gesture). When we received our bill, we noticed two extra items that we hadn’t been informed about: a charge for bread (pane) and for water (aqua 1 l). To my question about these charges, the waiter explained that a charge for bread is a service fee (why not written as such?) and a charge for water is due to the fact they serve filtered tap water. None of these two charges have been discussed during placing the order. This place stands above the average in terms of the quality of food, presentation, and the atmosphere. The staff are polite and attentive. A number of factors make an impression that the management and the staff care about their restaurant and their customers’ experience. Although the amount of omitted charges is relatively small, it is unfortunate that this fact didn’t allow for excellent experience at the restaurant. It’s a normal expectation of a client and a consumer right to not to be sold of charged for goods / services that haven’t been agreed on. As feedback, I recommend the staff making sure guests are aware of the charges they will face, including the service charge / charge for the bread and the charge for filtered (nevertheless, tap) water. Next time I’m in Rome and visit Su Ghetto, I hope to see that issue fixed yet the outstanding quality of...
Read morelousy attitude. waited over 15min for our orders to be taken. and that’s with us waving for a while.
after flagging down a waiter, he gave a sour face. since it’s our first time in a kosher restaurant, we asked for recommendations. instead of giving one, he waved at the entire menu and said everything is good so there was nothing to recommend and that he was busy and that he will come back after we made up our mind. we wanted something more linked to the jewish cuisine seeing the area we were in, but he said there was none and that we were in rome and it would all be roman food.
esp noted a difference in treatment towards asians and caucasians, seeing how caucasian customers seated way later than us had their orders taken first despite us waving for a server.
least friendly restaurant ever been to in my entire trip. would not recommend at all.
edit: received our meal after 20min of waiting. the spaghetti was raw. some bits were crunchy. pointed it out to the same waiter and he insisted that this was al denté and the true italian way. i’ve eaten real pasta cooked by an italian grandma and trust me, it’s not supposed to be crunchy. absolutely revolting. we were also charged 1.50 euros each under a bread charge despite ours being the only table without bread.
if you ever had the misfortune of dining at this restaurant, avoid at all the cost this waiter. he has a buzz cut and is on the bigger side. also looks middle aged. treated us as...
Read moreUpon arriving we were greeted quite poorly, the waiter told us to sit, and then dissapeared for a while. Another came with the menus and upon asking some questions they just pointed fingers at the menu. Waiters did not talk until it was time to pay. We ate the artichokes, they were fine yet could have used a little more salt. We then took Risotto and gnocchi with meat. Both were ok, but for the price we expected more, the risotto in my opinion was mediocre. The Israel wine we took was quite nice, a good addition. Both pies we tried (cherry and nut) were really great, probably the best out of what we had. Coffee was ok. Service was quite slow. However the worst part for us was the surprise of paid bread, which came to 5€ total and 3.5€ for water we didn't receive. We had to have a discussion with the waiter to get back the money for the latter. All in all, we checked some reviews before going there and we thought it was good. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back, I think it is a better idea to go to another kosher restaurant in the area if you want for a better experience. Food 7/10 Price Too...
