While in Rome I unfortunately had an issue with an incision from a surgery I had in the states prior to our trip to Italy. While I only speak Italian minimally (I'm currently taking lessons) I reached out to some friends of ours who were able to direct me to this hospital. I had read the reviews prior to our arrival and saw that many English speakers complaining that the staff didn't speak English. This complaint makes no sense to me. You are not in the US nor are you in UK so why would the staff speak English? You are in Italy they speak Italian so I wouldn't expect or assume that they would speak English. Anyways when we arrived the nurse at the triage window did not speak English. I was able to use my friend to help interpret for me. I think it is important to have connections in the countries you are visiting if you don't know the language. They took my information and directed me to the waiting room which I wanted about 45 min total. This is not bad considering waits in the ER in the US can be hours long. Now I also read complaints on here from people saying it didn't have or look like a US/UK hospital I again don't understand this complaint you are not in the US/UK so of course it won't be the same. I found the facility to be very clean and no issues or concerns there. I was seen by a very nice female doctor who quickly assessed me and determined I need to see a general surgeon she called and made me an appointment for that day, and we went and paid our 22 euros to see the surgeon let me tell you my copay in the US is much higher to see a surgeon. I think I waited about 2 hours to see the surgeon since I was an add on to his list. The staff was helpful and did their best with my broken Italian and their limited English. They were able to fix my problem and gave me a script that I was able to have filled at any farmacia. Let me tell you with no having insurance the cost of my medications were less then some of my US copays. All in all my care was great and I'm very grateful to receive the treatment that I needed to fix my problem and I was able to finish out the rest of my vacation. To those of you who give this hospital a negative review because they aren't like your countries hospitals should be ashamed of yourselves for having such closed minded thinking. Remember you are a guest in another country they are not supposed to be like your country so don't compare it like it was. I would recommend this hospital to anyone in need of...

I presented to the hospital via ambulance with a dislocated knee that had been out of place for over two hours. I was in shock, drifting in and out of consciousness, and in excruciating pain. Despite repeatedly requesting pain relief, the only response from the doctor was, “I don’t speak English.” The staff then ignored me and attempted to move me without administering any pain relief.

I was taken for X-rays, during which they continued to manipulate my injured leg without providing any relief for the pain. While still in the X-ray room, I informed them that I couldn’t straighten my arm and thought it might be broken. The doctor dismissed this, saying, “It’s not broken, you’re moving it.”

After the X-rays, they applied a back slab to my leg and instructed me to purchase a knee brace from a pharmacy and wait until I returned home (10 days later) to see a doctor in Australia. They refused to provide discharge papers or any further treatment and still did not administer any pain relief throughout the entire ordeal.

When I returned to Australia and sought proper medical care, I was diagnosed with a radial head fracture, a patella fracture, and a patella ligament tear—injuries made significantly worse by being forced to walk on them for 10 days. Mi sono recata stamattina per un consulto ortopedico alle mani ed ai polsi. Piccola attesa all'accettazione e conseguente ritardo per la visita col dottore...poco male, ho dovuto attendere comunque un'ora prima di essere ricevuta, poiché immagino che i ritardi precendenti si siano accumulati sommandosi.

Mi presento al dottore ortopedico con cd dell' rx e cd dell'ecografia di entrambe le mani, accompagnati dai relativi referti. Il dottore in questione prende il referto dell'ecografia e notando l'annotazione della prima pagina si ferma alla 1a frase e mi chiede il motivo della visita (leggi! È tutto scritto meglio di come potrei descriver io!!), con pazienza faccio un sunto, questo è il terzo medico che non legge neanche un referto che presento loro, sarà l'hashtag del momento fra i pigri della lettura. Dopo il mio sunto, prende il cd dell'rx ignorando il cd dell'ecografia e dice che non c'e nulla che non vada e che i tecnici di laboratorio sono consueti refertare ciò che vedono ipotizzando una patologia...mah? Coloro che hanno scritto quei referti erano tutti e tre medici chirurghi come lui! Al che gli descrivo i dolori e le limitazioni che noto in alcune parti delle mani, lui mi prende le mani fa alcuni movimenti, due dei quali mi provocano dolore. Sono molto elastica per natura e questo probabilmente è un elemento fuorviante per i due ortopedici che ho consultato in questo mese (fra l'altro mi hanno fornito diagnosi completamente opposte), il dottore di questa struttura mi dice che è normale sentire dolore quando si compiono certe azioni, che è normale e fisiologico avvertire dolore in certi casi della giornata e che anche a lui duole il pollice dopo alcune ore in sala operatoria. Io avverto dolore costante, ma acuto se esacerbati certi movimenti delle mani. Bah? Resto molto perplessa e decido di fargli notare una protrusione piccina che mi è venuta sulla falange del pollice e chiedo lui cosa pensava fosse, mi risponde: "non lo so, ma se vuoi indagare puoi fare un'ecografia o una risonanza quando noti che si ingrossa" 'Serio sei?' penso, e prosegue consigliandomi fisioterapia per rinforzare i polsi e poi continua dicendo...sentite questa..."ti consiglio di andare su YouTube per vedere i video sugli esercizi e sullo stretching per le mani, c'è ne sono tanti..." io resto a guardarlo attonita, della serie 'sono in una candid camera' e gli faccio una domanda: "e per questo bozzetto che faccio?" Lui mi risponde: "tienitelo!" e visto che siamo in vena di cavolate io continuo dicendo: "vabbè, se diventa più grande, lo asporto con un bisturi" ormai avevo capito che non mi prendeva sul serio e che forse mi considerava una perdita di tempo, morfologicamente le mie mani sono perfette è la parte meccanica che ha qualche guaio da qualche anno. Nel referto ha scritto 2 cose assolutamente false, 1: che non provo dolore a muovere le mani in tutte le direzioni, 2: che avverto dolore senza aver avuto un trauma, errato! La prima cosa che gli ho riferito è stato proprio il trauma a cui ho sottoposto entrambi i polsi 4 anni fa circa, neanche mi ha ascoltata figuriamoci prendermi sul serio!

Appena ho visto che non aveva voglia di leggere mezza pagina di referto ho compreso chi avevo davanti. Avrei agito molto diversamente se non fosse stato presente anche mio marito alla visita, che per indole non ama i confronti diretti e lapidari che sono solita avere con tipi del genere che per convinzione, e solo per quella, si definiscono professionisti. Se fossi stata sola, lo avrei asfaltato!!! Soldi buttati x un dottore che non conta e che non vale e sopratutto x un chirurgo che visita un paziente che non necessita di un tizio qualsiasi vestito di verde che gioca a taglia rompi e cuci con il suo corpo. Mai + la struttura, per la mala organizzazione e x la diffusa sporcizia generale, e mai + il medico perché immagino questo sia il target base, medio e avanzato..si evince leggendo anche le varie recensioni! Impressionante leggere di una signora a cui hanno applicato la manovra Kristeller! Neanche fossimo nel terzo mondo...o...
