Bar L'Ottagono — Restaurant in Rome

Deceptive and misleading.

As many others have noted this is the location various tour groups use as a meeting point for Vatican Tours. There is a price list on the inside of the door on the left hand side as you walk in, not easily visible but it is there.

As we waited for our tour group we ordered two coffees which based on the price list should have cost EURO$2 or so. We were then asked to pay $5 even though we stood at the bar and didn't take a table.

When challenged the person serving raised his voice saying there wasn't any bar service available and to sit outside. Although this was at the same time as we were given coffee in two plastic cups at the bar - hence there was no service at all. We asked again why we were being charged only to be told they were too busy to serve at the bar as the argument escalated.

Confused and angry at the deception we drank our coffee then as we walked out we were asked to even clean our cups away from the bar! In disgust, we left them and walked out. No service, no courtesy and a very convenient tourist trap with other options nearby.

The worst part of it all was the hundreds of others who are probably being ripped off every single day at this location without knowing. All the while their pricing is on the wall over your...

FROZEN PIZZA! . No taste (salt only) very blunt dry sandwiches. Prices; simply you could feed all your family in proper restaurant with proper food almost instead of eating dry bread with salty ham and frozen tiny pizza here:) You can sit down in the middle of 3 side surrounded traffic smelling carbon dioxide if you like. It was really very bad choice for us but super disappointing to see Italians turning to this commercial food and running away from their passions. Don’t waste your time and money here. Just walk...

We were supposed to meet a guide here at 2:45 for a 3 pm tour of St. Peter’s Basilica that never showed up and we asked several of the staff and even another tour company but no one was interested in helping us - staff just kept pointing outside - so even though we were hungry thirsty and mad / disappointed we would NOT eat / drink there if they paid me to ! If they had tried to help we probably would have all at least ordered drinks and maybe food too!!! Being kind doesn’t cost anything but being rude cost you...
