We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Tonnarello, and it exceeded every expectation we had! After hearing countless glowing recommendations, we were eager to experience it for ourselves—and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, lively, and inviting, capturing the essence of authentic Roman hospitality.
The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was prepared to perfection, bursting with fresh flavors that showcased the restaurant’s commitment to quality and tradition. The pasta was undeniably the highlight—perfectly cooked, rich, and flavorful. Each bite transported us deeper into the heart of Italian cuisine. The portions were generous, and the presentation was beautiful, making every plate as pleasing to the eye as it was to the palate.
What truly set our experience apart, though, was Francesco. He went above and beyond to make our meal not just enjoyable, but truly memorable. His enthusiasm, attention to detail, and genuine passion for hospitality shone through in every interaction. He took the time to walk us through the menu, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring that we had everything we needed. His warmth and charisma made us feel like honored guests rather than just customers.
Tonnarello is an absolute must-visit in Rome. The combination of incredible food, a fantastic atmosphere, and top-tier service makes it an unforgettable dining experience. If you’re lucky enough to have Francesco as your waiter, you’re in for a treat! We’ll absolutely be back on...
Read moreThe hotel receptionist where I am staying highly recommended Tonnarello San Pietro. He said that if I want to taste authentic, economically priced pasta, I should go to this restaurant. I didn’t waste time. On my first night in Rome, I ate at Tonarello. It was busy, and the waiter asked me if I had reservations. I said no, but then the waiter gave us a table in a corner. My family ordered a salad, carbonara, pepper and cheese pasta, and feta bread. We love the food. Tonnarello became our place to be, so on our second night, my family decided to eat there once again. I was worried about what I would order. I’m glad Georgiette was there. He is very accommodating, making sure that we are comfortable with the table we are seated at. Georgiette even went to the extent of giving me a comfortable chair, replacing the one that I got. I ordered Lasagna, which is authentically Italian and delicious. Georgiette suggested the meatballs with cheese and pepper, which my daughter and I loved so much. The vegetables on the side of the meatballs taste so good too. We capped off our dinner with Tonnarello’s Tiramisu. I would say it was the best Tiramisu I’ve tasted. For the entire meal I spent 42€. Good job Tonnarello. No wonder why your place is always full. Aside from the authentic Italian dishes you are offering, your staff is very accommodating. It’s like I am eating in a place close to my home. Keep it up Georgiette, your efforts to make us feel so welcome and at ease are very much...
Read moreThe food itself wasn’t bad, but the terrible service completely ruined the experience. This was by far the worst dining experience we had during our stay in Rome.
I visited the restaurant with two friends. Each of us ordered a portion of pasta and an Aperol. The waiter said he would bring us water and bread. We never asked for either, and we didn’t want them, but out of politeness we simply said “thank you.”
In most restaurants, we were often pleasantly surprised with a small complimentary item, which was a nice touch—but we weren’t expecting that here. However, this wasn’t a gift; the waiter brought the bread at the same time as our pasta, so we didn’t even have a chance to enjoy it, and again, we never ordered it in the first place. The water was just regular tap water served in a carafe.
When we got the bill, we saw that a service charge had been added, which we were prepared for. However, we were shocked to see a €2 charge for the water and €8 for the bread that we never ordered or even touched. When we asked the waiter why he didn’t inform us of the extra charges, he suddenly pretended not to understand English.
Unfortunately, we were in a hurry and didn’t have time to speak to a manager or sort it out further, so we just paid and left. But this felt like a scam and left a very bad impression. It was truly the worst experience we had in Rome, and I wouldn’t recommend this...
