We didn't have reservations at Jacopa and we're trying to get in last minute so we checked on Google at places nearby and stumbled onto this place that had great reviews. The place was pretty empty so we were a tiny bit worried but we are do glad we ate here. #1 Of course the food was great. Mark had the saltimbocca which was cooked perfectly. We shared the prosciutto con melone which has perfectly ripe sweet melons offset by the saltiness of the prosciutto. Whenever you get this antipasti it's really just about the ingredients but if either the melon is too hard or not sweet enough or the prosciutto is too dry or too thick it doesn't work! You need translucent soft prosciutto that you can delicately wrap around the melon. I of course ordered the carbonara and it was the hugest pile of delicious eggy peppery pasta for not much money at all. Which brings me to #2 Price. I can't believe this place still charges normal prices when the rest of Rome has gone insane. Really reasonably priced dishes and generous portions make me wish that all the restaurants would price as such. Just like the old days before everyone decided to use COVID and Ukraine as an excuse for price gauging. #3 Service. You expect a simple place like this to have just ok service and I probably still would have given them 5 stars but our waiter was attentive and actually checked up on us while we were eating! Will definitely put this place on our circuit of...
Read moreAmazing food. Fresh pasta, fresh produce, fresh fish and was all delicious. Service was really strange. We sat down and weren't given a menu and waited and waited. Then we were told the QR code was the menu. We then waited more time and eventually got some food but it didn't come altogether and had to ask for sides. Very disjointed service but as mentioned, food was gorgeous. Would come back but get rid of the QR codes and go back to real menus and proper table service. Would happily pay more if that was the case too. No senza alcohol beer either....
Read moreThis place has the feel of a local neighborhood osteria, but with really great food. The carciofi/Rocket/grana padano salad, seasoned with lemon, was perfect: crunchy, light, flavours balanced. Really top class. Fettuccine con carciofi, guanciale & pecorino also excellent... guanciale crisp and delicious. well-chosen wine selection. Even the music was classy (remixes of early 00s dance/African tunes). We go to a lot of restaurants in Rome, only review the good ones. This is a...
