DO NOT EAT OR DRINK HERE! The waiter encourages you in by telling you there are no table or hidden fees. This should had been my first warning. We order two pastas, costing €12 each, and a caffe latte, costing €1.80, or so we thought. Foolishly, we only checked the reviews after we had sat down and ordered, so was too late to leave, but I made sure to double check all prices on the menu that we still had, showing our meal should have come to €25.80. When I go up to pay, I am told the card reader is down due to internet issues. I do not believe this as I have had no issue accessing the internet during my meal, but I agree to pay in cash. I am then charged €29, not much more, but still more than I expected to pay. I complain to the cashier and our waiter, who then claim that this is a takeaway price, and then hand me a different menu that has these different prices on. I tell him that is very misleading of him, to which he responded appallingly. He proceeded to make up lies, claiming all restaurants in England charge a compulsory 20% additional fee, something I know not to be true as I live there, and that I should be grateful that he didn’t do that. He also then announced that he should have charged me for filling up my bottle with tap water, a service he offered without any mention of a price. I am aware that bottled water is charged for in Italy, but I do not believe this extends to tap water too. To top this all off, he proceeded to turn around, point his bottom towards me, and tells me to “kiss his a**.” As someone who works in hospitality myself I was disgusted by this behaviour, especially in front of fellow diners, who were now aware of the scam that was going on. At this point I decided to leave, and he shouts out that clearly, due to my age (in my 20s), I am untravelled, and this issue is due to my ignorance, supposedly factoring in the fact I am English. This was a disgraceful way to act towards a paying customer, as well as a lie that could not be backed up. If I am ever in Rome again I will not be stepping foot anywhere near this establishment, and I very highly suggest no one reading the reviews does too. DO NOT...
Read moreThought it looked decent and prices seemed reasonable. We have been in rome for 10 days so far and always walked past but tonight we went in. Got ignored for several minutes by a rude waiter before getting seated. We ordered 2 cokes (yes common as muck I know) and ordered some ham with mozzarella starter, lasagne for my wife and tender beef strips with a rocket salad. Waited and waited and eventually when it all came out the ham was all hard on the edges like it had been left out (we have had this dish in other restraunts and it was have like that) the lasagne was obviously heated in a microwave or as it was dry and crispy and curled up at the edges and as for that tender beef strips with a rocket salad I got lumps of chicken and cooked baby tomatoes. I called the waiter over who told me "just eat it that's what you ordered" I refused and asked him to take it away. He ignored me and when he passed again I insisted he take it away. We were left sitting for 15 mins not knowing if they were bringing what I had actually ordered only to have to ask the woman at the counter what was happening, she sent the waiter over again who argued that the chicken was actually steak..... white steak? I'm not a chef but I know what steak looks like mate. The older man that works that e then came over and joined in arguing where I processed to tell them we were leaving. They rung up the bill for the meal minus the chicken/beef hybrid abomination and I refused to pay for the lasagne as well as we hadn't actually ate ant of the food. This enraged them further and they became increasingly more rude and shouty. I then noticed on the bill they had charged us for bread (that we didn't ask for or get) and also a service charge (we paid to be insulted and shouted at) an €5 per coke .... I calculated what we had ate (2 cokes and half our started) I paid that and left.
DON'T EAT HERE the staff are rude and disgusting and the prices are way too high for the poor excuse of the food. And who wants to eat somewhere what doesn't know he difference between...
Read moreI’d actually forgotten the cafe’s full name but I felt so compelled to warn other tourists about this terrible place so I went and searched this place up on the internet. Based on the pictures and reviews, I confirm this is the right cafe/restaurant.
This place does not even deserve a single star. We were so disgusted with the service we left after some time. We seated ourselves and not a single waiter/waitress wanted to serve us even though the cafe was empty (there were just 1-2 other tables filled). When we finally managed to get someone’s attention, we were treated very rudely. In fact, the blond waitress made it very clear that we were not welcomed and went all out to ensure we felt that. She smirked at us and walked right passed us when we asked for the English breakfast menu. She then proceed to busy herself with cleaning the tables while shouting angrily at someone (not sure if at another guest or her co-worker). It was our last/second last day in Italy and this really ruined the experience we had in Rome; rest of the restaurants we visited in Rome, or Italy in general, were great!
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!!! Wish I’d read the reviews on TripAdvisor and Facebook before walking into the restaurant.
