Caffetteria Gracchi — Restaurant in Rome

An excellent find in this little corner of Rome! I used to have my own other favorite place but Caffetteria Gracchi just took over that place as my new favorite. Not only is their Amatriciana magically tasty (think thick al dente pasta swimming in a fresh succulent appetizing tomato sauce generously topped with fatty cubes of guanciale bacon) but the service is second to none! I love this place for their food but their service is so warm, sincere and welcoming… something which is increasingly rare in a city increasingly inundated by foreigners and over-tourism. The lovely waitress even gives me a piece of fresh bun to enjoy the « scarpetta » soaking up all the leftover sauce like a true Roman. I look forward to dining here during...

I and my daughter had a great one week vacation in Italy and had food&drinks in many places of Milan, Florence, Venice and Rome, but this place Caffetteria dei gracchi was the worst experience that we had. The waitress was so unfriend and annoying that we even were afraid to ask her questions. We ordered pasta Bolognese but just requested to remove meat and add garlic, she brought the pasta only with tomato. We asked them 3 times to bring parmesan but the waitress ignored us totally. It was the most awful pasta that we had ever. When I made payment I told that the service and the meal was bad, they charged me and even didn’t apologize. Perfect place for any meal of the day, in the morning you can get pastry and coffee combo just for 2€, during lunch I highly recommend their pasta. And in the evening we were not even ordering food because we came for drinks and all of sudden 5 plates with crazy amount of food came in form of traditional Italian finger food. Staff is extremely friendly and chatty, except in the morning when they are in rush but it's completely understandable since they are breakfast hotspot of neighbourhood. Also I've seen that people are complaining you can't go to toilet and wash hands which is totally rubbish, the toilets are down the stairs on the left side of cash desk, also don't be suprised that handbasin is operated by pedal...
