June 23rd 2022. Visiting Rome/Florence/Pisa/Paris from NYC and family from Dallas Texas. Went around 3PM on a weekday. The place was about 1/3 full.
Food. I would say between Good and Very Good. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, I would judge it to be around 6-7. I have tried Filipino restaurants from various parts of the world, so I would still consider this to be a good, decent score.
Pricing. We ordered Crispy Pata (Rome charges $29 Eu, NYC charges $20. The serving portion at NYC is about 1.5 times more). Dinuguan was ok, other dishes were ok too. Serving portions were decent, not generous. I would consider pricing to be on the high side. Value for money - so so.
Service. This is the area where the business can improve a lot. Our order was taken by a nice, kindly lady. She took our order, then transferred to another table to take their order. She seemed familiar with the clients as she took her time exchanging pleasantries with them. Our order took about an hour or more to arrive from the time that the order was taken to the time that food was served. It was later explained to me by another staff member that it takes at least 25 minutes to prepare the Crispy Pata. How on earth would we know that? Staff should have known and should have booked the order asap instead of dilly-dallying. The lack of concern and awareness is inexcusable specially for a setting where the business is only about 1/3 full. It shows an utter disregard and lack of respect for people's time (specially when they are hungry).
We tried cancelling all our orders after about 40 minutes of waiting. Too late to cancel all but we were able to cancel desert. The restaurant should give the courtesy of allowing to cancel orders if a reasonable amount of time is not met.
Important! Friendliness cannot replace timely service! What could have been a positive experience turned out quite negative. The young man managing the restaurant at the time tried to apologize but simply could not answer my question as to how the entire waiting scenario is deemed reasonable or acceptable. Poor guy cannot give a justifiable response specially after noting my observation as to how our server took her sweet time to book our order.
We discovered this place by accident as we were looking for another Filipino restaurant that some locals (Filipino) suggested. We were checking our Jollibee when family members said that some locals suggested a Filipino restaturant. Wanting to patronize our own, we went and searched (walking more after a morning spent that included climbing the stairs to the top of St. Peter's Basilica - if you have done this then you know what state our minds, emotions, and stomachs would be in by the time we reached the restaurant.
Conclusion: we should have just stayed at Jollibee, our expectations would at least have been manageable and we would not have experienced disappointment over a fellow...

Read moreDining at Neighborhood Filipino Restaurant in Rome was the perfect way to end our unforgettable day visiting the Vatican! As a family, we were thrilled to find a taste of home (or close to it) in the heart of Italy. The warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel like we were part of the neighborhood, and the staff went above and beyond to make our dinner special.
The food was absolutely incredibleâauthentic, flavorful, and made with so much love. We started with lumpia, which were crispy and delicious, and then moved on to adobo and sinigang, which were both bursting with flavor. The kids loved the pancit, and we couldnât get enough of the leche flan for dessert. Every dish reminded us of the rich culinary traditions of the Philippines.
The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable, especially for such high-quality food. The cozy ambiance, combined with the friendly service, made our family dinner feel like a celebration. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring the Vatican.
If youâre in Rome and craving Filipino food (or just want to try something new), this restaurant is a must-visit. Weâre so grateful for the wonderful experience and canât wait to come back on our next trip! Salamat, Neighborhood Filipino...
