The staff here are incredible, the cocktails are reasonably priced and expertly made, the bar staff I would say are mixologists who know exactly what they are doing with both their signature and classic cocktails. They also spoke good English and at least one appeared to be able to speak fluent Spanish.
Live music was great, the performers knew exactly the vibe of the venue and the visitors, people were singing and dancing along, eventually up on the tables as the night went on but without getting too wild!
We stayed until close at 2am and were up early the following day for more sightseeing...however we just had to go back the following night and sing and dance the night away again. Caramella is also a restaurant and on our second visit we actually had a sharing board of cured meats, cheeses and focaccia with a side of honey, all of which were really loved as we continued to drink.
Roberto appears to be a supervisor/manager/owner and as well as being professional you can see that his energy radiates through the venue and his staff, he and his staff remembered us when we went back for our second night which is always a nice touch.
Cannot recommend Caramella enough! It is, in my opinion, the best bar in Rome, nowhere else during our visit came close to the good times and memories Caramella...
Read moreCasual but attentive to detail, younger vibe, upbeat music and colorful interior. Nice list of classic and innovative cocktails, beer, wine, and liquors. Great prices on the menu for traditional items and items with their unique spin. There was live music which was a surprise! The saltimbocca alla romana was traditional, thin and tender with prosciutto and sage, a small salad of arugula and tomato on the plate and a portion of roast potatoes. The supplí al ragu was crisp and tasty and not too salty as fritti can sometimes be. Cute staff that are attentive if you need something but won’t bother you while you’re enjoying your meal. Table service in Italy is NOT THE SAME as it is in America where servers have to site over customers to get tips. You’re not going to get nametags and the server’s life story. They are there to take your order and bring your food. It’s not fair for Americans to expect some Olive Garden “hospitaliano” nonsense so anyone who complains about the service here should get over themselves! Everyone was delightful and fresh cucumber water is even offered to passers by in between service hours. Enjoyed it all. Great prices too, and you can’t miss as you cross ponte sisto...
Read moreCaramella was a great find in Trastevere! One of the few restaurants in the area where you can make reservations, which made arriving super easy with no wait time. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better.
This is not your typical Italian restaurant, it’s more of a restaurant-bar hybrid with loud music and a party vibe. If you’re looking for a fun and lively spot, this is it!
Upon arrival, we were greeted with four complimentary glasses of delicious wine, and at the end of our meal, they offered us limoncello on the house, such a nice touch.
The menu has a great variety, including pizza, salads, burgers, and classic Italian dishes. We had the Caesar salad and lasagna, both of which were delicious and well-prepared. We also had their pizza with French fries on it.
Overall, the atmosphere, food, and service made for a fantastic experience. If you’re in Trastevere and want great food with a fun vibe, I’d definitely recommend Caramella! Even our kids...
