I just want to be very upfront and say the food is great the service is why I am leaving a poor review. Like many other people we were HARASSED by the same guy capture in photos for a tip. We still left one as the food was good and back of house should get tipped out. But my god what a terrible experience, the food was great other than they services us stale bread which was fine as we were the last table. I get it why bake fresh bread when they are near close. They did not need to seat us since they were closing but they were very nice to (not the guy in the photos, a different server). Before we finished eating the restaurant started closing and piles of garbage were literally placed right next to us with garbage even being brushed by my hair. I chose not to be extremely upset as I understand people need to go home. The waiter you see captured in photos comes by with our bill and slaps it on the table and points not “no tip included” and while I review it he says multiple times no tip on the check tip separate… which is extremely rude in my opinion and given that my husband is European this is not customary no one tips in Europe but you leave a couple of bucks IF the staff are nice. Which we would have. Before I can even read the 7 items on the bill this guy asked 4 times for a tip. Given that a customer has complained about this before you would have expected the owner or manager to have talked to him about his behaviour. But he continued to ask for a tip nonetheless, even though there is a SERVICE fee… what is that service for? Piling garbage by us while we tried to finish our meal? Or hassling us for a tip when we haven’t even finished our drinks? Who knows. When my husband calls him out for his behaviour he tried to bring us out something to apologize but asked for money to bring it out. Don’t know if the owner is aware of his behaviour but it’s terrible or maybe he is the owner because he was dressed in normal clothes and not uniformed like the rest of the staff. We are staying in this area for 5 nights and I would have 10000% returned if it were not for this guy. Hope this business takes this concern seriously this time. People will tip if you give them good service even the...
Read moreWe had the 1kg fiorentina steak for around EUR60.
This is a very specific dish experienced in a very traditional way. Any complaining reviews are only from people who don't know what to expect.
We chose this restaurant because the dry aged steak was being displayed in the windrow. I could choose which cut of t-bone or rib filet that I preferred.
The Fiorentina is a massive 2cm to 1 inch t-bone seared on both sides then brought to your table on a sizzling hot iron plate to be finished off. The waiter will cut the meat off the bone and then place the cuts onto the hot plate and season it with rock salt.
When it is cut it is meant to be rare.... that's how they do it. Don't ask for anything else because then it won't be Fiorentina....it'll be just steak. But you can leave it on the hot plate as long as you want in order to have it cooked more. Also, they leave the rock salt behind so if you ask for it to be slightly seasoned then you can add more salt to your taste. In our case they brought a 2nd hot plate over to allow us to cook it longer to our preference.
The roast potatoes were excellent and because it's a long meal I put potatoes on the hot plate to reheat. The grilled veggies (which we paid for as an extra) were also excellent. The 3 sauces were so intense in flavour....awesome.
I don't know that this will be the "best steak ever" because it's very cleanly cooked (ie just seared, seasoned and served) but it's a great steak that you'll never forget or regret.
It's a meal for 2 so it's worth the extra cost.
Highly recommend and I hope I have explained why others had a negative experience..... basically they just didn't know and they didn't know how to get it the way...
Read moreThe Hostaria del Moro in Trastevere in Rome If you're seeking a place in Rome to enjoy delicious food in a charming ambience, look no further than in Trastevere. After a long day of sightseeing, we weren't in the mood for elaborate multi-course meals; we craved the simple flavours of traditional Lazio cuisine. Having lost the list of recommended eateries and being chased by the January rain, we found ourselves at the mercy of fate, but one thing was certain for me: the pasta had to be "fatta in casa”, meaning "homemade". I dreamed of tagliatelle cacio e pepe and a bottiglia di vino that would bring a rosy glow to my beloved's cheeks. Frankly, you will not find a better place than the one I found. The Hostaria del Moro, nestled among its counterparts, stood out for its welcoming atmosphere. A few tables lined the narrow street outside, while inside, a crackling fireplace added to the cosy charm. While the portions weren't overwhelmingly large, they filled our bellies satisfactorily and although they begged for more of the delightful flavors, we simply couldn't manage another bite. Our waiter, a linguistic wizard fluent in a dozen languages, effortlessly conversed in my mother tongue, renowned alongside Chinese for its complexity, and expertly selected a wine to complement our meal, elevating us from...
