Everyone said we would eat good in roma just don't eat near a tourist attraction. This wasn't a place I picked out and did research on but it had good reviews and was open at 2pm. We were 15 minutes from Vatican and reviews on Google were good. In the first 24 hours we had trappizino, suppli, and this. All these things were no good. The first two were fine but semi bland then this place was also bland, hard noodles. Now I worried I just don't like eldente but then we had it done right so I can tell you it was actually under done and had minimal flavor. We were ready to write off rome all together as having bad food until we got in at a Michelin star (colline emiliane, something like that). That is what we expect. Sorry for long review. All that is to say, don't eat here. The service was good though. We ate outside in a covered seating area. We actually wish it wasn't covered but I get why they do that. You just really need to be careful where you eat in Rome. Most good places you have to reserve or wait a long time. Oh see receipt, we got two pasta dishes both bad. We said no to water but they brought it. We didn't ask for bread but they brought and charged (it was hard). Literally no redeeming qualities, besides...
Read moreWonderful restaurant runs by WONDERFUL people. My wife and I were visiting Rome. It was Saturday evening after dinner. Vatican area was full of tourists trying to get taxi to get back to hotel but non available. We were desperate. A gentleman sat in front of the restaurant, I guess he is the owner Mr. Vito, holding the menu in his hand showing it to passers-by, while enjoying a glass of wine among his friends. When I pleaded for help as I don’t speak Italian to call taxi, that gentleman spent almost an hour on the phone calling at least 4 or 5 different taxi companies, trying to help me out. Finally, he found one but the taxi driver missed the turn and stuck at the end of the street. That gentleman, while still on the phone with the driver, ran with me and led me to the taxi and made sure the driver understood where I wanted to go. Thank you very much Signor Vito for all your effort to help my wife and I, strangers in a beautiful country of yours, when we needed it most. Your kindness will always be remembered and...
Read moreWe ate here 2 nights ago & enjoyed our entire meal. This would have been a positive review. However, we returned tonight hoping to enjoy the Sgroppino dessert drinks w our young adult children. We were greeted & I explained we were hoping to have some Sgroppinos. The man very rudely said, "It's a dessert!" I said, "Yes, we would like to have some." He said, "No. This is a restaurant." I replied, "Yes, we were here the other night & enjoyed some & were wanting to have some more." He said, "No! Sorry." I said, "So you are not interested in serving us as customers? Ok, great. Nice service!" Many restaurants in Italy are known for being places to stop for a before/after dinner drink. This restaurant refused our service tonight and, therefore, our money & our positive review. It's a shame a business turns away a returning customer who came back specifically for one of their menu items. My advice would be to avoid this place since they seem to not be interested in serving...
