Read moreThis place was recommended by air bnb host as a more local option. Unfortunately the reviews about the rude male staff are absolutely correct ( male in his 30s/beard informs me he is the owner during our exchange). For a starter I had the red beans and bacon, not bad 3/5 a bit too salty but nice. For the pasta I was suggested the ox tail, if I enjoyed meat the ox tail pasta was the way to go. When it arrived there was one bone on the plate of pasta, I would say less than 1 gram of meat on the bone and none to be found in the gravy/sauce. When I asked if this was how it was served, with such little meat the male waiter acted incredulous, asked if knew what oxtail was (I have had many ox tail dish’s, travel the world and have been involved with several restaurants in my career) and dismissed me and walked away before I could say much else. I sat there without eating, eventually the female waitress returned and I mentioned the same to her, the male waiter returned and I told him I was just disappointed that there was no meat in the dish , he told me that’s the way they serve it, that he is in fact the owner. I asked him if he was proud to serve this and suggested to him if I served this in any restaurant as ox tail that no one would return. He insisted it was his best dish and that I did not know why ox tail was and how it was to be served. Regardless of his rude behavior I insisted that in no way was it to serve a meatless tail bone in an ox tail dish (the most expensive pasta dish on his menu). I only wrote this review as he could have been polite and not dismissed my dissatisfaction but it was clear he felt I was “just a tourist”, maybe he would be better to remember that his economy today is largely dependent on “just a tourist” and wanting to serve great food should not be for locals only, especially those who love the country...
Read moreIt was our last diner in Roma last Sunday, and we could not have been more disappointing! 1st we were surprised that the restaurant was nearly empty at diner time, it should have rung a bell. 2nd, there was no Italian among the customers, that was a second warning for locals know it better where to eat than any guide. We decided nevertheless to give a chance to this tiny restaurant. Unfortunately it turned out to be a wrong choice. Regarding the service: we have received a frosty welcome from a waitress, she didn't help us to choose by presenting the meals of the moment, brought the plates without a smile or wishing that we enjoy the meal, didn't ask if everything has been alright or if we wanted a dessert or a coffee and didn't even say goobye. Have we been served by a robot, it would have been the same! Regarding the food: we tried the carbonara pasta. The bacon was compounded with nearly only fat parts, and the sauce was particularly sour, it was the worst pasta carbonara pasta we ate in Italy. That might explains the cheap price. Regarding the drink, they charge tap water that they treat themselve with a filtering- machine, which is tasteless and contains no micro-nutriments. One offers mineral water in recycled glass bottles if the environment were really an issue here. I am afraid it was just a business approach downgrading quality to increase profit to the detriment of the customers. We do not recommand this place which left us a bitter taste! That was certainly not the dream last experience of Roma we...
