Kebab station — Restaurant in Rome

I used to like this place until last visit after flea market walk I arrived with umpteen bags the responsible asked for payment before order(?) I payed didn't get a proper bill, then after waiting until service served a group Infront of me the service person (20ish years) took order scraped the fallen kebab from around grill( I usually only went to places where they slice directly from the cooking rod) the left over pieces under grill really then to rolled kebab as I prefer without hot spices then put it to warm and exited for the bathroom!! Returned wiping hands and nose on wiper then proceeded to touch my order to bag it without gloves.. my appetite disappeared and I left for train station and gifted the kebab to a homeless guy who I'd informed on why I wasn't interested anymore.. obviously no return...

Mi sveglio tardi una domenica e da una faccenda all’altra passano diverse ore, quando arriva il momento di pranzare mi accorgo che erano già le 3 di pomeriggio e fra forni, pizzerie e ristoranti chiusi di domenica o chiusi per la pausa pomeridiana mi viene in mente questo kebabbaro aperto 24 ore che ancora dovevo provare. Non avendo quindi molta scelta salgo in sella al mio scooter a vado in zona Ostiense per mangiare il kebab. Conoscevo questo locale di vista perché è difficile non notarlo in strada, non molto grande, ma ha sia tavolini all’interno che all’esterno, già appena entrati si vede un girarrosto gigante con carne di manzo, dall’aspetto si vede subito la differenza con i kebabbari “normali”, la carne ha un bell’aspetto e i pezzi di carne vengono infilzati manualmente e non sono i soliti girarrosti di kebab standard che vengono surgelati e consegnati in tutta Roma dai soliti fornitori. Si possono scegliere kebab di 3 diverse grandezze con relativi prezzi da 5-7 euro, quindi anche la versione più piccola costa un po’ di più dei soliti kebabbari, ma la differenza qualitativa della carne non ha paragoni, inoltre anche i contorni e le salse sono molto di più, la mia combinazione è stata abbastanza “ignorante” in quanto assieme alla carne i miei contorni erano: cipolla caramellata, cipolla cruda, melanzane, zucchine, peperoni, cavolo rosso, salsa all’aglio, salsa al prezzemolo e salsa di ceci (quest’ultima ottima). Nonostante abbia preso la grandezza media, il kebab era abbastanza grande da soddisfare la mia fame, ad ogni morso si sentivano tutti gli ingredienti, le varie salse smorzavano il sapore per far venire voglia del prossimo morso, nota non da sottovalutare la piadina viene un po’ arrostita per donare quel gusto di croccantezza in più che alza ulteriormente il livello, ovviamente anche la carne ottima come rapporto qualità prezzo. A Roma ci sono pochi kebabbari che fanno un kebab originale veramente buono e questo locale è sicuramente fra i primi 3 più buoni di Roma, è aperto anche 24 ore per cui è il locale ideale anche per coloro che non hanno mangiato fuori dagli orari standard dei ristoranti. If you stop to eat in one place in Rome, it should be here. No matter how good you thought the "authentic" pizza or pasta was, this is 10x better. So skip the pizza and come here instead! We came to Rome on our way to other places, and we found this place one evening. We have now been there three times in our week in Italy. The day before we fly home, we took an hour out of our evening to go get kebab here one last time. 100% best food we had the entire trip, and incredibly cheap.

You know it's good when there's a line (not too long, but enough to make you know people want the food) at noon, 6p, and 10p. Seriously, come get the kebab :)
