The drive to the location was certainly intriguing. Not the cleanest of areas, but most of the outskirts of Rome aren't as clean as one would think. When we arrived, though we arrived outside the check-in window, a person cleaning greeted us and let us into our room. We then came back to officially check-in. The staff / owner was extremely nice. Very respectful and provided us a map and transportation to the city. There are steep stairs as a shortcut (nothing out of the ordinary). The biggest issue we had was how the room looks in the photos. In the photos, the suite room (most expensive one in the building) is extremely nice. No damages, nice Roman-style stone-brick ceilings, etc. In reality, the ceiling looked as if it was being held by glue (photo provided). The parking is private and gated. The furniture is broken and gross. You're in the basement which has very small windows. The ceiling had what looked like mold that had been scraped off. It didnt feel clean at all. The lights in the one shower in the spa area didnt work. Nor did they work in the sauna either. Nobs to turn the spa on were broken or fallen off. The jacuzzi tube was not cleaned properly. They do not maintain it like it should be. When i turned the jets on the smell was putrid. I had to fill and run it twice before it was fine. I was highly disappointed. We literally left and booked a different hotel the same day we got there. This room is way over priced. There were holes in the walls. The floors looked very dirty. I understand this is the room I picked but also the photos are deceiving and need...
Read moreThis small hotel is unpretentious in a convenient location less than ten minutes walking from Roma Trastevere station. From there, one can get to Fiumicino airport by train in less than 30 minutes or to the main train stations (Termini and Tiburtina). You can take the tram or a bus to multiple places or you can just walk twenty minutes or so to Santa Maria in Trastevere to stroll or to eat. Our favorite restaurants are right there.||First, the positive: the staff is friendly and attentive. We were greeted by Marco who made us feel welcome. While there are stairs (on two sides), the ones leading to the hotel from Gianicolense are less of a challenge with luggage. The rooms are comfortable and the bathroom looks remodeled. The shower is very good. The room was very clean and there are plenty of outlets for charging equipment.||While other reviewers pointed out the place was quiet, we had to deal with some noise. Guests arriving late at night or leaving early in the morning woke us up. This may not be as much of the hotel’s responsibility, but the lack of kindness of the guests.||Our room smelled like someone smoked in it. If this is a problem, please make sure you get a non-smoking room (before you settled), which I thought we reserved. We did not point it out right away and I regretted it.||While they are functional and clean, I think the bathroom towels could be softer. ||I would stay here again, particularly when having an early flight out of Fiumicino or...
Read moreGood location, close to tram, bus and train station. Quiet area. Nice rooms. The building is very acoustic. Breakfast could be better; one has to wait very long for some cheese, ham and coffee (one person for everything, trying to serve, clean up, make coffee etc.). The staff tries to do their best, but they just aren't professionals, accidental persons rather. ||The biggest minus is for the cleaning. I mean rooms were clean, but you wouldn't like to know how does it happen when you're not there. During our stay it was very rainy in Rome, all 5 days. We had room no. 2, next to reception, ground floor. After the whole day spent in the city we came back and found the window wide open, the floor was wet and so were also all my shoes I kept in the bag under the window. Cleaning staff just left the window open, despite I let it closed. Well, I didn't say nothing, but the next day asked the girl at the reception desk not to let the cleaning persons in. I also hung the "do not disturb" item on the handle, wanting my shoes to get dry in peace.||Imagine my shock when we came back again in the evening and found AGAIN the window wide open, again water everywhere and moreover my own pajama pants (I left it neatly folded under my pillow) rolled up together with some wet towel, stuck between window and window frame, used as a kind of bracket in order to avoid the possibility that the window could close!!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes... And that's why: no,...
