I'm giving it 2 stars because of the bad experience I had. I am a tourist and this was my first time coming to this restaurant. We were 2 people and we arrived on a Sunday afternoon at about 2:15 pm. We arrived and found about 12 people scattered outside the door and there was no line. A waiter came from inside the restaurant shouting for a number and we saw people coming in. Then I noticed that these people had a paper with a number on it. I asked the worker about how to get a number and he ignored me and called another number and another group went inside. More people came after us and they were confused too. We waited for another 7 minutes and after that the same waiter came outside and shouted for mire numbers and more people went in. Then he brough a pen and paper and asked who wants a number. With such a mess a group that came after us were able to get a number before us. I told the waiter what is the system here? How could you know who came here first when there is no line organised by the restaurant and you kept ignoring us? He gave me a "deal with it" smile. I took the paper as you can see from the picture and left. Such restaurant with such system doesn't deserve my money. I have been to busier restaurants were we waited for 45 minutes outside but in an organized way where we didn't mind the wait. By that you know that I didn't eat at the restaurant. Keep...
Read moreProbably one of the most disappointing and heartbreaking things in Italy I've experienced and I've been to Italy a lot. I was heavily recommend by a local friend to experience really good pizza in Rome and I was a) disappointed in the very very small selection of pizzas and b) the food itself. The service wasn't glowing but I didn't mind it, especially since we got seated so fast. The pizza however was dreadful, I think I've enjoyed Domino's more. We got the Napolitan pizza which in truth wasn't bad at all, didn't live to the hype and the dough was spongy but the ingredients were really good and the seasoning on point. I suspect it would be close to perfection if you like an anchovy, Napoli style pizza if the dough was crisp and not rubbery like we were served. Disappointed also in the mozzarella which had no real taste. But my 'pizza' was probably among the worst culinary experiences of my life, I ordered the 'fried pizza' which in no way indicated it's a deep fried calzone. The filling was okay but the dough almost made me vomit my guts out, for the first time in my life I had something so revolting I could not finish my plate. Absolutely disgusting, I would recommend you stay away and instead get a pizza from a small takeaway place a mere 500m ahead which has incredible pizza for I kid you not a 10th...
Read moreThis was by far one of my worst food/restaurant experiences.
Don’t get me wrong, the food was great (I ordered the Margherita and Top 50 Roman Pizza), but their service was absolutely horrible and horrendous.
I can’t stress how disappointing the service was. It took me maybe around 7 times to get the attention of the waiter.
The waiter rushed me for my order and ended up making a mistake with my order. Frankly, I think they shoulder my expense for the pizza and give me the pizza I actually ordered.
When I asked for a glass with ice for my cola, the waiter rudely responded with “what??” and proceeded to bury my request.
The waitstaff was incredibly aloof, and I can’t tell if it’s intentional or just their natural demeanor. It puts me at fight or flight mode whenever I interact with them.
I don’t usually write reviews, but it is just right to inform you readers/food connoisseurs how pathetic the service of this restaurant is.
That said, the food was something I couldn’t complain about. It was good, maybe even great. The pizzas really showcased what a Neapolitan-style pizza should be.
I’m not sure if this kind of service is typical for all Da Michele branches, but this particular one in Rome needs a complete overhaul of its management, staff, and...
