L'Elementare - Ponte Testaccio — Restaurant in Rome

We decided to try this restaurant after it was recommended by our Airbnb host, but unfortunately we left quite disappointed. The service felt extremely rushed, and although the staff member looked understandably tired (I assume because of how busy it was) it came across as a lack of basic manners, which didn’t make for a welcoming experience.

We ordered a range of pizzas, but they were not up to the standard we’ve experienced elsewhere in Italy. I tried to judge the food on its own, separate from the service, but it still fell short of expectations. The portion of potato chips was generous, but they tasted more like packaged crisps you could buy from a store and were served without any sauces.

Esperienza venerdì 7 febbraio 2025. Premessa : sono una frequentatrice abituale da quando ha aperto la prima pizzeria. Sono stata in tutte e quattro le sedi più e più volte. Per questo il voto al cibo è alto. Posso solo consigliare di specificare che la birra è "particolare" come sapore e le pizze che hanno ingredienti freddi tipo la burrata dovrebbero essere portate immediatamente al tavolo perché risultano poi troppo fredde (due settimane fa ci era stato specificato al momento dell'ordine e proprio io avevo risposto che era una problematica che sapevo e che comprendevo). Ma quello che è successo ieri sera merita di essere riportato. Ordinazione presa da una ragazza che ci ha detto che stanno facendo dei corsi di AGGIORNAMENTO per i quali è impossibile cambiare o aggiungere un ingrediente alle pizze. Nello specifico si trattava di poter aggiungere un po' di prosciutto su una pizza (cosa che ci era stata permessa di fare due sabati fa). Ad ogni richiesta ci è stato risposto di questo fantomatico aggiornamento che non prevedava richieste SPECIALI. Io mi rendo conto che se tutti chiedessero degli STRAVOLGIMENTI pazzeschi tipo mettere una fetta di prosciutto su una pizza si creerebbe un disagio ma è il MODO in cui la ragazza si è rivolta a noi per tutto il tempo che ha messo NOI a disagio. Al punto che la ragazza ha scelto di farci servire da un ragazzo che aveva preso servizio due giorni prima e che si è rivelato molto più disponibile di lei. Per me va benissimo la fila, la pizza fredda, la birra strana, gli sbagli con le prenotazioni ma per cortesia non ci dite che state facendo corsi di aggiornamento perché il cliente...

This restaurant came recommended and we finally managed to reserve a table on our third night in Rome. However, we were left disappointed by the food and the rushed service.

The pizzas were okay at best, and bland at worst. We ordered a range of them from the marina, the rosso coi funghi and others. They were very busy and the service was lacking as staff struggled to see each table.
